R. 3877</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210614">June 14, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="R000599">Mr. Ruiz</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HII00">Committee on Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Reclamation Projects Authorization and Adjustment Act of 1992 to authorize additional projects related to the Salton Sea, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H44B3F44EE58B48F3A038E4454D9D63B9" style="OLC"><section id="H9EA688F9E207483498F6A8DC4E0BAF70" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Salton Sea Projects Improvements Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H4B72A8FE80E3463B8ECCE30FD68F372A"><enum>2.</enum><header>Research Project</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1101 of the Reclamation Projects Authorization and Adjustment Act of 1992 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/102/575">Public Law 102–575</external-xref>; 106 Stat. 4661) is amended—</text><paragraph id="HE9131E4D28AC482AB261B2E2CFB409B7"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating subsections (b) through (d) as subsections (c) through (e), respectively;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H8DB1F02A1FD84F769265C4A64A628C3B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after subsection (a) the following new subsection: </text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H70BD67DB720145A19918D93C91E2AE87" display-inline="no-display-inline"><subsection id="HEE60C89544CD4C958CAB30048BAE8F52" commented="no"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Additional project authorities</header><paragraph id="HA6202B51FDE14022A945996B5EE6A215" commented="no"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary, acting through the Bureau of Reclamation, may provide grants and enter into contracts and cooperative agreements to carry out projects located in the area of the Salton Sea in Southern California to improve air quality, fish and wildlife habitat, recreational opportunities, and water quality, in partnership with—</text><subparagraph id="H24B1CF8C603C4D9FBB860047EEEF07B4" commented="no"><enum>(A)</enum><text>State, Tribal, and local governments; </text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H0E29D26706BA41378F42111244C16B86" commented="no"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">water districts; </text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H68EAB152E40C43A298D526D918BBB3FD" commented="no"><enum>(C)</enum><text>joint powers authorities, including the Salton Sea Authority;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H8AC05146F77A4DA5BD039E79340420AC"><enum>(D)</enum><text>nonprofit organizations; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H6B83B615509249B7970A896831B00C82"><enum>(E)</enum><text>institutions of higher education. </text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H3527139A58FE45D185B5602F74D5D90E" commented="no"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Included activities</header><text>The projects described in paragraph (1) may include—</text><subparagraph id="H2FE2100487FC4130967F558A177ED072" commented="no"><enum>(A)</enum><text>construction, operation, maintenance, permitting, and design activities required for such projects; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HC98DA00C77894BF0ACBC101773F6237C" commented="no"><enum>(B)</enum><text>dust suppression projects. </text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>; and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph><paragraph id="H37B6902A63D441B8A4D6BD7FB7EDC4A9"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in subsection (e), as so redesignated, by striking <quote>$10,000,000</quote> and inserting <quote>$250,000,000</quote>. </text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
