R. 368</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210119">January 19, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="T000474">Mrs. Torres of California</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 18, United States Code, to provide United States Secret Service protection to former Vice Presidents, their spouses, and their children under 16, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HD12044A6B2EB44BEB8047F88EEDAC6F9" style="OLC"><section id="HB36F623C9D8042C8B2322D8B08B4A61E" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Protecting Vice Presidents Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H8FFAC2B9D1CA4295A3729237F8423868"><enum>2.</enum><header>Secret Service protection to former Vice Presidents, their spouses, and their children under age of 16</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 3056(a)(8) of title 18, United States Code, is amended to read as follows:</text><quoted-block style="USC" id="H79709C90079F4916AAD81D43BF1BE048" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="HACD6D2C39E1249CDA1D834F6F4715ECB"><enum>(8)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Former Vice Presidents, their spouses, and their children who are under 16 years of age, except that protection of a spouse shall terminate in the event of remarriage.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
