R. 3556</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210528">May 28, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="C000059">Mr. Calvert</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HPW00">Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To prohibit the use of Federal funds for the installation of fencing around the perimeter of the United States Capitol or the United States Capitol Grounds.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HBA27C7CFBC6040B1962A2043C6478EC4" style="OLC"><section id="HF875B094DC0C492A8AA5134A5E728F7D" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Prohibiting use of funds for permanent fencing around United States Capitol</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">No Federal funds may be used to install permanent above ground fencing around—</text><paragraph id="H7C95280CD74E4FAFA283A0A234AF3499"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the perimeter of any of the Capitol Buildings described in section 5101 of title 40, United States Code; or</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H287EBC17593E4A5BB8CEDAC15C68499B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the perimeter of the United States Capitol Grounds, or any portion thereof, described in section 5102 of such title.</text></paragraph></section><section id="H9A9E535C92F94E7EA93F5CEA802989B3"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibiting use of funds for existing temporary fencing</header><subsection id="H4EEF7A2E0C06459F93837DC79D97E4E1"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Prohibition</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">No Federal funds may be used to respond to the attacks on the United States Capitol and the United States Capitol Grounds on January 6, 2021, or any ongoing, unspecified security threat by installing temporary fencing around—</text><paragraph id="HCF9B5B93E13D4C9CAA5D95039705809D"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the perimeter of any of the Capitol Buildings described in section 5101 of title 40, United States Code; or</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HF2422EEBF5844AF1B0B824769AB2834F"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the perimeter of the United States Capitol Grounds, or any portion thereof, described in section 5102 of such title.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H4BCA146D3B934AC4A5DF35A4A7549621"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Removal of existing temporary fencing</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 15 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Architect of the Capitol shall remove any fencing that was installed around the United States Capitol Buildings and the United States Capitol Grounds on or after January 6, 2021.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
