R. 3543</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210525">May 25, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S001200">Mr. Soto</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Committee on Energy and Commerce</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To establish an office within the Department of Commerce to coordinate all non-defense related deployment and activities related to blockchain technology within the Federal Government.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HC42613A600F84FC0A8B43527ABDC8755" style="OLC"><section id="H681A16B8572349F0993ABE2E6759EC01" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Blockchain Technology Coordination Act of 2021</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H7B54F987183F4252A4B0196D650F57DC"><enum>2.</enum><header>Establishment of national blockchain technology coordination office</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">There is established within the Department of Commerce a National Blockchain Technology Coordination Office (in this Act referred to as the <quote>Office</quote>) which shall be organized and led by a Director, who shall be appointed by the Secretary not later than 60 days after the date of enactment of this Act.</text></section></legis-body></bill>
