R. 3490</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210525">May 25, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="D000630">Mr. Delgado</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HPW00">Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To authorize funding for formula grants for rural areas, to amend title 49, United States Code, to increase the percentage of funds available for grants and contracts for transportation research, technical assistance, training, and related support services in rural areas, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H26A5E8C8CD9D4BDFBBE5E1C2EAEFAC0D" style="OLC"><section id="H8FB12CD124694DBCA7FB76CA8CFD90A9" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Rural Transportation Improvement Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H2A703A895CC74ED6B669C130F5DB6E3F" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Formula grants for rural areas</header><subsection id="HF61199B43924442C9F24F085275CF197"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>There shall be available from the Mass Transit Account of the Highway Trust Fund to provide financial assistance to rural areas under section 5311—</text><paragraph id="HACFAE8A2A8B54B4E9EFB55A9C88F5848"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">$1,025,199,724 for fiscal year 2023;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HDD14B60069464215BCF6DD79174D63E8"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">$1,041,192,839 for fiscal year 2024;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H2A77CCE05D524E75BDB8019A0450A3DB"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">$1,057,851,925 for fiscal year 2025; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HCEDF6F934AE8412DB0C78D7C1B44532C"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">$1,074,460,200 for fiscal year 2026.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H139041FE2A814D4490AD2E557408D0EA"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Formula grants for rural areas</header><text>Section 5311(b)(3)(B) of title 49, United States Code, is amended by striking <quote>2 percent</quote> and inserting <quote>3 percent</quote>. </text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
