R. 3394</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210520">May 20, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="G000587">Ms. Garcia of Texas</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="O000173">Ms. Omar</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="N000147">Ms. Norton</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="J000032">Ms. Jackson Lee</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HPW00">Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To prohibit the sharing of certain information with respect to individuals who are victims of major disasters, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HC41579F4CBFD4243B3E144934D79718D" style="OLC"><section id="HF296CE2475EE4A08B09B548ECF5116AB" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Protect Victims of Major Disasters Act of 2021</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H2157E80D2B414F7CA154E85EE3F55CD9"><enum>2.</enum><header>Immigration enforcement during major disasters</header><subsection id="H8EF3B07107234FF6A1C2AF224D8C324B"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Information sharing</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Information collected by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) with respect to an individual who is a victim of a major disaster may not be shared with an immigration enforcement agency within the Department of Homeland Security for the purpose of immigration enforcement. </text></subsection><subsection id="HE5A4EE70DFB54C56B2F8F322F5BFB49D"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section:</text><paragraph id="HA3DAEC1A7416475DABBEBA1088A9B099"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Immigration enforcement agency</header><text>The term <term>immigration enforcement agency within the Department of Homeland Security</term> includes:</text><subparagraph id="HE2D3BDFD4BFB45A9A93D5499126AC086"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H232D9354646D46AFAAAAC1869D3983A5"><enum>(B)</enum><text>The U.S. Customs and Border Protection.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H50F0C1C957864F69BB1000574F8DE347"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Major disaster</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>major disaster</term> has the meaning given such term in section 102 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/5122">42 U.S.C. 5122</external-xref>).</text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
