Boyle of Pennsylvania</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="K000380">Mr. Kildee</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="L000557">Mr. Larson of Connecticut</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001117">Mr. Casten</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="N000147">Ms. Norton</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="K000389">Mr. Khanna</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000551">Mr. Grijalva</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001196">Mr. Moulton</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001145">Ms. Schakowsky</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001068">Mr. Cohen</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="P000034">Mr. Pallone</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Committee on Energy and Commerce</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Safe Drinking Water Act to require the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency to publish a maximum contaminant level goal and promulgate a national primary drinking water regulation for total per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HA380E9F7692A4174BDE1E115BEABAB3D" style="OLC"><section id="HF0C826ECE2BA447BB5A8926C82D69650" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Protect Drinking Water from PFAS Act of 2021</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H469B108E946E4A5EA1396B347E277091" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Deadline for regulations on PFAS</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1412(b)(12) of the Safe Drinking Water Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/300g-1">42 U.S.C. 300g–1(b)(12)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HE2497977D9404E38AF79FA29CEDD704E" style="OLC"><subparagraph id="HA5197B49FA324184829919FB4A96DF00"><enum>(C)</enum><header>Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances</header><clause id="H9F9A8504C78947BEA2D086C758A0026E"><enum>(i)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Notwithstanding any other deadline established in this subsection, not later than 2 years after the date of enactment of this subparagraph, the Administrator shall publish a maximum contaminant level goal and promulgate a national primary drinking water regulation for total per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances.</text></clause><clause id="HE60B78C683114372B4D5CE8C56FAB2FB"><enum>(ii)</enum><header>Health protection</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The maximum contaminant level goal and national primary drinking water regulation promulgated under clause (i) shall be protective of the health of subpopulations at greater risk, as described in section 1458.</text></clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
