<section id="H4B98AB5674E14B3FBE65DC4462C1FDF4" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Safe Sleep for Babies Act of 2021</short-title></quote>.</text></section> <section id="H2D876086958843A2B6200D91A64C770C"><enum>2.</enum><header>Banning of inclined sleepers for infants</header> <subsection id="HCC8C71F9F6D64A5A85A1CA50CA236207"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In General</header><text>Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, inclined sleepers for infants, regardless of the date of manufacture, shall be considered a banned hazardous product under section 8 of the Consumer Product Safety Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/2057">15 U.S.C. 2057</external-xref>).</text></subsection>
<subsection id="HA807146E4E9748278EBF9914C1C8B739"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Inclined Sleeper for Infants Defined</header><text>In this section, the term <term>inclined sleeper for infants</term> means a product with an inclined sleep surface greater than ten degrees that is intended, marketed, or designed to provide sleeping accommodations for an infant up to 1 year old.</text></subsection></section> <section id="H7FEEB99821CA4882B4C0A051C9D6AB3E"><enum>3.</enum><header>Banning of crib bumpers</header> <subsection id="HF50879B0E47846DCB2DEABEA9C79D545"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Not later than 180 days after the date of enactment of this Act, crib bumpers, regardless of the date of manufacture, shall be considered a banned hazardous product under section 8 of the Consumer Product Safety Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/2057">15 U.S.C. 2057</external-xref>).</text></subsection>
<subsection id="H14CB8C184C5946368E92A01516E48B16"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Crib bumper defined</header><text>In this section, the term <term>crib bumper</term>—</text> <paragraph id="H3D0331C6904444BE82B400668B5EA755"><enum>(1)</enum><text>means any material that is intended to cover the sides of a crib to prevent injury to any crib occupant from impacts against the side of a crib or to prevent partial or complete access to any openings in the sides of a crib to prevent a crib occupant from getting any part of the body entrapped in any opening;</text></paragraph>
<paragraph id="H91501B329509430AA59F29A52FADB464"><enum>(2)</enum><text>includes a padded crib bumper, a supported and unsupported vinyl bumper guard, and vertical crib slat covers; and</text></paragraph> <paragraph id="HD5D946B345044A00AE91255ABF0EAA98"><enum>(3)</enum><text>does not include a non-padded mesh crib liner.</text></paragraph></subsection></section>
