which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HED00">Committee on Education and Labor</committee-name>, and in addition to the Committees on <committee-name committee-id="HGO00">Oversight and Reform</committee-name>, and <committee-name committee-id="HHA00">House Administration</committee-name>, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act to extend paid leave, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H3998B54E285E44F5989D390529D6CEB7" style="OLC"><section id="H9A8518B6498B4EE1A7B08C19B00484A0" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Pandemic Leave Extension Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HCF282DCF99494F2DA2F24166D64C9AD7"><enum>2.</enum><header>Extension of Paid Leave</header><subsection id="H8A09267FE53248DD9320128AA42FF0D1"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2601">29 U.S.C. 2601</external-xref> note) is amended—</text><paragraph id="H5F479EA626CD4CB9BBBA4B1765A9932F"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">in section 5102(b)(2), by inserting <quote>in each calendar year</quote> after <quote>paid sick time</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H1DCCFF215DDC44A282E665F0598D0912"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in section 5103(b),</text><subparagraph id="HB72832D739C64FC4B85E95DFF50B17D8"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by striking <quote>Not later than</quote> and inserting <quote><header-in-text level="paragraph" style="OLC"><enum-in-header>(1)</enum-in-header> In general.—</header-in-text>Not later than</quote>; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H715B1963D25F4EDB837CB1601A537067"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H66B16A44BFE74732B8C4EC0CC00C0927" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="H2157AD19902D43958C8789C3AC19720B"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Updates</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The notice under paragraph (1) shall be updated and made publicly available not later than 7 days after the date of the enactment of the Pandemic Leave Extension Act.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>;</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H260CD8D3B9454F41A377269A15E93AFF"><enum>(3)</enum><text>in section 5108, by striking the period at the end and inserting <quote>or 15 days after the date of the enactment of the Pandemic Leave Extension Act.</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H33952B944128499CA2EE5106DC49A33A"><enum>(4)</enum><text>in section 5109, by striking <quote>December 31, 2020</quote> and inserting <quote>the date that is the end of the public health emergency related to the coronavirus declared by the Secretary of Health and Human Services pursuant to section 319 of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/247d">42 U.S.C. 247d</external-xref>)</quote>.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H20A09419E53E4F87BF96F9C60C8DB36F"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Family and Medical Leave Act</header><paragraph id="HB7F8729955C244049A7D7EF1DF510698"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Amendment</header><text>The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2611">29 U.S.C. 2611</external-xref> et seq.) is amended in section 102(a)(1)(F) (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/29/2612">29 U.S.C. 2612(a)(1)(F)</external-xref>), by striking <quote>December 31, 2020</quote> and inserting <quote>the date that is the end of the public health emergency related to the coronavirus declared by the Secretary of Health and Human Services pursuant to section 319 of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/247d">42 U.S.C. 247d</external-xref>)</quote>.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H61A16CD4CDDA4D56AB33E125793EB9C2"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendment under paragraph (1) shall take effect not later than 15 days after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
