R. 2970</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210504">May 4, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="C001087">Mr. Crawford</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="G000593">Mr. Gimenez</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001199">Mr. Mast</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="N000026">Mr. Nehls</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="P000605">Mr. Perry</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="R000603">Mr. Rouzer</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HPW00">Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 49, United States Code, to remove the lifetime exemption from the prohibition on procurement of rolling stock from certain vehicle manufacturers for parties to executed contracts.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HC14059ABFC2F41BBA2982E0D7AEA98A1" style="OLC"><section id="H8F859C046F78461B8E13BF91C989DB1E" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Rolling Stock Protection Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H1A07BCCAB74447DDB64F516E7985FBCA" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Removal of lifetime exemption from prohibition on procurement of rolling stock for parties to executed contracts</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 5323(u)(5) of title 49, United State Code, is amended—</text><paragraph id="HA09C980EFB2541EC9EEF1F38A7429D83"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subparagraph (B) by striking <quote>Except as provided in subparagraph (C) and for a contract or subcontract that is not described in subparagraph (A)</quote> and inserting <quote>Except as provided in subparagraph (B)</quote>;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H61C27A35F2EE4CB1A6BECCFCAA8BE58D"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in subparagraph (C) by striking <quote>Subparagraph (B)</quote> and inserting <quote>Subparagraph (A)</quote>; </text></paragraph><paragraph id="H3839C2DEB5F64B33831447E71507E19E"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by striking subparagraph (A); and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H52BB3D2E414E4AE0B8AFF93B13DB1F48"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">by redesignating subparagraphs (B) and (C) as subparagraphs (A) and (B), respectively.</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
