Russell National School Lunch Act to allow certain institutions to use geographic preference for procurement of certain foods, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H8FEA0D1442844862AA5C95540396E651" style="OLC"><section id="HBDC0CA56D82848E9A1500066BE39796D" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Kids Eat Local Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H7537A91DC7B745BEA5592EB9D0BC98DA"><enum>2.</enum><header>Geographic preference and identification for school food</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Paragraph (3) of section 9(j) of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1758">42 U.S.C. 1758(j)</external-xref>) is amended to read as follows: </text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H692BCBF723A94B24BE07D3DECE826EB1" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="H9ACDDAB3D5E843C9AF872CB1CFBFA1E9"><enum>(3)</enum><text>allow institutions receiving funds under this Act and the Child Nutrition Act of 1966 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1771">42 U.S.C. 1771</external-xref> et seq.), including the Department of Defense Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program—</text><subparagraph id="HC4CB649B52B542399AE02C3BC13C0A4D"><enum>(A)</enum><text>to use a geographic preference for the procurement of unprocessed agricultural products, both locally grown and locally raised; or</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HD45D4614BBB14C3F83B25AFB70BACB55"><enum>(B)</enum><text>to use locally grown, locally raised, or locally caught as a product specification.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
