R. 2584</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210415">April 15, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="J000288">Mr. Johnson of Georgia</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="N000002">Mr. Nadler</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="J000306">Mr. Jones</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 28, United States Code, to allow for twelve associate justices of the Supreme Court of the United States.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H5B319AF8436449F08754F76B6EB44A5A" style="OLC"><section id="H2D0AE1BC45834B82BBD7444B9D36FC1B" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Judiciary Act of 2021</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H559E896A52874FC483E75017A457CE70"><enum>2.</enum><header>Number of justices; quorum</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1 of title 28, United States Code, is amended by striking <quote>a Chief Justice of the United States and eight associate justices, any six of whom shall constitute a quorum</quote> and inserting <quote>a Chief Justice of the United States and twelve associate justices, any eight of whom shall constitute a quorum</quote>. </text></section></legis-body></bill>
