R. 2478</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210413">April 13, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="M001188">Ms. Meng</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HPW00">Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To increase the availability of menstrual products in certain public buildings, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H6EFB29DE67E44D45928D53E69AE27AA3" style="OLC"><section id="H5ED43B9A9C834C0BA2788BA778807CFA" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Menstrual Products in Federal Buildings Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HFD211D61D462469BB2D2C3F9ED656B4C" commented="no"><enum>2.</enum><header>Menstrual products in public buildings</header><subsection id="H87DBB540D5534A849C030D7DBFB549D6" commented="no"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Requirement</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Each appropriate authority shall ensure that menstrual products are stocked in, and available free of charge in, each covered restroom in each covered public building under the jurisdiction of such authority.</text></subsection><subsection id="H4907F22F4D90407E8AB17208D55E5AB2" commented="no"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section:</text><paragraph id="HC68D1D129E6742F0BF0260B89CE241CB"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Appropriate authority</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>appropriate authority</quote> means the head of a Federal agency, the Architect of the Capitol, or other official authority responsible for the operation of a covered public building.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H305D59DAECAA4DF398E63B04AFEC6B18" commented="no"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Covered public building</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>covered public building</term> means a public building, as defined in section 3301 of title 40, United States Code, that is open to the public and contains a public restroom, and includes a building listed in section 6301 or 5101 of such title.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HE4EEFF7A0656429CB85C02E175488B07" commented="no"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Covered restroom</header><text>The term <term>covered restroom</term> means a restroom in a covered public building, except for a restroom designated solely for use by men.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H7D94C75ADA754B3EA451C5BE5022B768" commented="no"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Menstrual products</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <term>menstrual products</term> means sanitary napkins and tampons that conform to applicable industry standards. </text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
