Protecting patient access to ground ambulance services.</toc-entry><toc-entry idref="H24A3C0AA488E4D3F995654AF245FFDF9" level="title">Title II—Protect Access to Ground Ambulance Services in Rural America</toc-entry><toc-entry idref="H50F686AEC65245B6AD9A274D5B764F49" level="section">Sec. 201. Protecting access to ambulance services in rural and low population density areas.</toc-entry></toc></subsection></section><title id="HD543886D5B454BDABAB0CCDF383B035C"><enum>I</enum><header>Protect Access to High-Quality Ambulance Care</header><section id="H8A43E8F0D414427D8CCFDCFD41990987"><enum>101.</enum><header>Protecting patient access to ground ambulance services</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1834(l) of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1395m">42 U.S.C. 1395m(l)</external-xref>) is amended—</text><paragraph id="H7191BABC7F0A46C7940C131D94256817"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (12)(A), by striking <quote>2023</quote> and inserting <quote>2028</quote>; and </text></paragraph><paragraph id="HA1F8DCD696524D9E9C03FC141AA29AB3"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph (13)(A), by striking <quote>2023</quote> each place it appears and inserting <quote>2028</quote> in each such place.</text></paragraph></section></title><title id="H24A3C0AA488E4D3F995654AF245FFDF9"><enum>II</enum><header>Protect Access to Ground Ambulance Services in Rural America</header><section id="H50F686AEC65245B6AD9A274D5B764F49"><enum>201.</enum><header>Protecting access to ambulance services in rural and low population density areas</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1834(l)(12) of the Social Security Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/1395m">42 U.S.C. 1395m(l)(12)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following new subparagraphs:</text><quoted-block id="HC7B33E1E4EB64EF2A63BB7E1ACDB843A" style="OLC"><subparagraph id="H532BA914C21543358A2001CE30B61DCB"><enum>(C)</enum><header>Exception for rural and qualified rural areas</header><text>The Secretary shall deem an area designated as a rural or qualified rural area under this paragraph that would otherwise no longer receive such designation to retain its previous designated status if there are 1,000 or fewer individuals per square mile in the area.</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H08C3BF8FB6A343D387C699295B811211"><enum>(D)</enum><header>Right to appeal rural areas and qualified rural areas</header><text>The Secretary shall establish an administrative appeals process to allow ambulance services providers and suppliers to seek reconsideration of a change in a ZIP code’s status as a rural or qualified rural area during the first 12 months after the Secretary finalizes a change in the designation made under this paragraph.</text></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></title></legis-body></bill>
