R. 2440</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210408">April 8, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="W000826">Ms. Wild</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="W000788">Ms. Williams of Georgia</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="R000606">Mr. Raskin</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B001300">Ms. Barragán</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="H001081">Mrs. Hayes</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="K000382">Ms. Kuster</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="T000472">Mr. Takano</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="P000597">Ms. Pingree</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001201">Mr. Suozzi</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="W000808">Ms. Wilson of Florida</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="J000306">Mr. Jones</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M000312">Mr. McGovern</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="D000627">Mrs. Demings</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C000754">Mr. Cooper</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="L000551">Ms. Lee of California</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001175">Ms. Speier</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="D000617">Ms. DelBene</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HHA00">Committee on House Administration</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To prohibit States from restricting a person from providing food or drink to individuals at a polling place in an election for Federal office, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H28D05A21A6184B07A442724F773CA128" style="OLC"><section id="H6DCB48F656F645BCB9C6E63130367329" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Stay in Line To Vote Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="HC8BECADAE3754F9FA4A9CEB4C2564B3A"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibiting States from restricting the provision of food or drink to individuals at a polling place</header><subsection id="H580E058AC8E049E8916B84FDA790E7A1"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Requirement</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subtitle A of title III of the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/52/21081">52 U.S.C. 21081</external-xref> et seq.) is amended—</text><paragraph id="H917B7DAC8600411CB9F51DB639AF131E"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating sections 304 and 305 as sections 305 and 306, respectively; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HA8A5406EAA0C4903A9C01D0725BE2CCF"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after section 303 the following new section:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H880CCECE6BFC44F1AEA924737C0BAA8F" display-inline="no-display-inline"><section id="HB6D2CCBE64164F65965C8A4482DB7287"><enum>304.</enum><header>Prohibiting States from restricting the provision of food or drink to individuals at a polling place</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">A State may not prohibit a person from providing food or drink to individuals at a polling place in the State in an election for Federal office, including at a polling place at which individuals may cast ballots prior to the date of the election.</text></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H8CAA6ABA8EB244FCA34619646D9EA2E8" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conforming amendment relating to enforcement</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 401 of the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/52/21111">52 U.S.C. 21111</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>and 303</quote> and inserting <quote>303, and 304</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="H7E1B96C75BF64726AE8C32995D78C665"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Clerical amendment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The table of contents of such Act is amended—</text><paragraph id="H329F161E6B63437B8536A83C0DA4B677"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating the items relating to sections 304 and 305 as relating to sections 305 and 306, respectively; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H6EF65B0B663846028F27834CF2D5AF3F"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after the item relating to section 303 the following new item:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="HADA559C4D1644DAA8FBFF8E2D97105BB" display-inline="no-display-inline"><toc regeneration="no-regeneration"><toc-entry level="section">Sec. 304. Prohibiting States from restricting the provision of food or drink to individuals at a polling place.</toc-entry></toc><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H4A35B2D2A3B04018869EC62FE7D62AE9"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>This section and the amendments made by this section shall take effect on the date of enactment of this Act. </text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
