R. 2093</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210319">March 19, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="J000294">Mr. Jeffries</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="K000397">Mrs. Kim of California</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HVR00">Committee on Veterans' Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to make all fact sheets of the Department of Veterans Affairs available in English, Spanish, and Tagalog, and other commonly spoken languages, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HD14011C93C514C40A87CCA2FA6F8BDFA" style="OLC"><section id="HE378B0F010F343F287AE70F92F6B4691" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Veterans and Family Information Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HA1EFD35C4E0A46578CCCF1FF9349F095" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Fact sheets</header><subsection id="HA6203F161128434791C5CA1B4820A525"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Languages</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall make available versions of all fact sheets of the Department of Veterans Affairs in—</text><paragraph id="HC457375B734C4B5CB918F5C7A10424F9"><enum>(1)</enum><text>English;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H499BB8A9EBEE471D962D0EF23AEAD515"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Spanish;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H1AB97F88BF5449DA9D629EB8781C02BE"><enum>(3)</enum><text>Tagalog; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H203A8855B54F47628DE853F0A6276C44"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">each of the 10 most commonly spoken languages, other than English, in the United States that are not otherwise covered by paragraphs (2) and (3).</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H37A4ADED869946F8B020C4A4B2889B12"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Website</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall establish and maintain a publicly available website of the Department of Veterans Affairs that contains links to all fact sheets of the Veterans Benefits Administration, Veterans Health Administration, and of the National Cemetery Administration. The website shall be accessible by a clearly labeled hyperlink on the homepage of the Department.</text></subsection><subsection id="H7EF58B86EFEA45AE9DF4F4ED2DC565F7"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Report</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 180 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Veterans Affairs shall submit a report to Congress regarding fact sheets described in subsection (a) and details of the Language Access Plan of the Department of Veteran Affairs. The report shall include the following:</text><paragraph id="H9349E5E14844497082CE188E1CFECC5E"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">What the Secretary determines constitutes a fact sheet of the Department for purposes of this Act.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H5B41AA12DA144674B6C94B58416F7264"><enum>(2)</enum><text>How such fact sheets are utilized and distributed other than on and through the website of the Department.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H8CED05BF21AA4ECDB95528B39BB412DA"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">How such Language Access Plan is communicated to veterans, family members of veterans, and caregivers.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H95C8B9130E5C4E68864D370A646C8B0E"><enum>(4)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The roles and responsibilities of patient advocates in the coordination of care for veterans with limited English proficiency, family members of such veterans, and caregivers.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H9E1B791498CF4CF899507558CC3409A6"><enum>(5)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Other demographic information that the Secretary determines appropriate regarding veterans with limited English proficiency.</text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
