R. 2081</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210319">March 19, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="B000825">Mrs. Boebert</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="B001297">Mr. Buck</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B001302">Mr. Biggs</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000565">Mr. Gosar</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="W000814">Mr. Weber of Texas</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="P000605">Mr. Perry</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000552">Mr. Gohmert</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="L000564">Mr. Lamborn</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="N000189">Mr. Newhouse</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="L000578">Mr. LaMalfa</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="Y000033">Mr. Young</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HII00">Committee on Natural Resources</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To provide for improved management of Federal lands and increased efficiencies within public land agencies while strengthening tourism, conservation, outdoor recreation, grazing, responsible energy production, and other multiple uses.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H895FCDD20C8B40B5A11733880CC60785" style="OLC"><section id="H51FD69D96DA541CC819CC64353A96BA3" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Local Opportunities, Conservation, and American Lands Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>LOCAL Act</short-title></quote> .</text></section><section id="H52C5BA59FE854C59AB29BE582CCDAD36"><enum>2.</enum><header>Definitions</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In this Act:</text><paragraph id="H74D908F06F404D7D92D2BB71E5AFCC00"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Secretary</header><text>The term <quote>Secretary</quote> means the Secretary of the Interior.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H19F888A9A2804022964053EC4A713BD0"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Western State</header><text>The term <quote>western State</quote> means any of the States of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, or Wyoming.</text></paragraph></section><section id="HD04451CDC9F34103A69BFB0CE02F1777"><enum>3.</enum><header>Headquarters Office of the Bureau of Land Management in Grand Junction, Colorado</header><subsection id="H2BA4ADC56BAC4560A37EF2AC79B216D5"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Headquarters</header><text>The headquarters for the Bureau of Land Management shall remain located in Grand Junction, Colorado.</text></subsection><subsection id="HE0DE9590228741EC92C3886900EFAF2E"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Employee stations</header><text>All Bureau of Land Management employee positions stationed in Grand Junction, Colorado on the date of the enactment of this Act shall remain stationed in Grand Junction, Colorado.</text></subsection></section><section id="H34861CAEA94347889B04CF528094D525"><enum>4.</enum><header>Study of relocation of existing Bureau of Land Management employee positions</header><subsection id="H29CBF998F1B14DE79912E72146455D73"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Study required</header><text>The Secretary shall conduct a study on the feasibility of relocating more existing Bureau of Land Management employee positions to the headquarters in Grand Junction, Colorado or a western State specified by the Secretary and determine amongst other things whether such relocation will improve management of Federal lands, increase coordination with local communities, and strengthen tourism, conservation, outdoor recreation, grazing, responsible energy production, or other multiple uses.</text></subsection><subsection id="HD3408BDE7CE0446CA72AE335D25DF596"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Report</header><text>Not later than 365 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Natural Resources of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate a report on the study required under subsection (a).</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
