R. 1913</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210316">March 16, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="K000388">Mr. Kelly of Mississippi</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="B001298">Mr. Bacon</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HWM00">Committee on Ways and Means</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To authorize the extension of nondiscriminatory treatment (normal trade relations treatment) to products of Uzbekistan.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H4804EE50613644B0AABCD26CFFE90EE4" style="OLC"><section id="HBEA2DBF328DF442684FF1EC6B871BB2C" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Uzbekistan Normalized Trade Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H8F86866647804A6CB960623A70C2EC8E"><enum>2.</enum><header>Termination of application of title IV of the Trade Act of 1974 to products of Uzbekistan</header><subsection id="HEFEE630C361B49E49F28741AC9B18152"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Presidential determinations and extension of nondiscriminatory treatment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Notwithstanding any provision of title IV of the Trade Act of 1974 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/19/2431">19 U.S.C. 2431</external-xref> et seq.), the President may—</text><paragraph id="HBA8F4D35379845369C0539B57E854F60"><enum>(1)</enum><text>determine that such title should no longer apply to Uzbekistan; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HA871CD8A1A2F4CB79DCBF9DD5E988891"><enum>(2)</enum><text>after making a determination under paragraph (1) with respect to Uzbekistan, proclaim the extension of nondiscriminatory treatment (normal trade relations treatment) to the products of Uzbekistan.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H527EFE4FF86344FAB62AC0D71256F755"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Termination of applicability of title IV</header><text>On and after the date on which the President extends nondiscriminatory treatment to the products of Uzbekistan pursuant to subsection (a), title IV of the Trade Act of 1974 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/19/2431">19 U.S.C. 2431</external-xref> et seq.) shall cease to apply to Uzbekistan.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
