R. 187</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES</current-chamber><action><action-date date="20220608" legis-day="20220607">June 8 (legislative day, June 7), 2022</action-date><action-desc>Received; read twice and referred to the <committee-name committee-id="SSJU00">Committee on the Judiciary</committee-name></action-desc></action><action></action><legis-type>AN ACT</legis-type><official-title display="yes">For the relief of Victoria Galindo Lopez.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H0B078F8BF2974B389709E8B75A55F4FB" style="OLC"><pagebreak></pagebreak><section section-type="section-one" id="H299C061CEA204F118716F9239949B61B"><enum>1.</enum><header>Permanent resident status for Victoria Galindo Lopez</header><subsection id="HF5F968B50CC24FF28DE52C025121FD1B"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In General</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Notwithstanding subsections (a) and (b) of section 201 of the <act-name parsable-cite="INA">Immigration and Nationality Act</act-name>, Victoria Galindo Lopez shall be eligible for issuance of an immigrant visa or for adjustment of status to that of an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence upon filing an application for issuance of an immigrant visa under section 204 of such Act or for adjustment of status to lawful permanent resident.</text></subsection><subsection id="H81F9B22CA6834D18A46F7685B06CAEE5"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Adjustment of Status</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">If Victoria Galindo Lopez enters the United States before the filing deadline specified in subsection (c), she shall be considered to have entered and remained lawfully and shall, if otherwise eligible, be eligible for adjustment of status under section 245 of the <act-name parsable-cite="INA">Immigration and Nationality Act</act-name> as of the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection><subsection id="H90574727796C44249330FED1AB8836C2"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Waiver of grounds for removal or denial of admission</header><paragraph id="H35FCC150E6024E3DB2FDBD74E41D0A28"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Notwithstanding sections 212(a) and 237(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, Victoria Galindo Lopez may not be removed from the United States, denied admission to the United States, or considered ineligible for lawful permanent residence in the United States by reason of any ground for removal or denial of admission that is reflected in the records of the Department of Homeland Security or the Visa Office of the Department of State on the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HB1BB6C0775EC4A00940DFF5711FD5821"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Rescission of outstanding order of removal</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Homeland Security shall rescind any outstanding order of removal or deportation, or any finding of inadmissibility or deportability, that has been entered against Victoria Galindo Lopez by reason of any ground described in paragraph (1).</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H11819FC209664657A115837D36772D63"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Deadline for Application and Payment of Fees</header><text>Subsections (a) and (b) shall apply only if the application for issuance of an immigrant visa or the application for adjustment of status is filed with appropriate fees within 2 years after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection><subsection id="H74402425BDDE450FA385D929E648A794"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Reduction of Immigrant Visa Number</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Upon the granting of an immigrant visa or permanent residence to Victoria Galindo Lopez, the Secretary of State shall instruct the proper officer to reduce by 1, during the current or next following fiscal year, the total number of immigrant visas that are made available to natives of the country of the alien’s birth under section 203(a) of the <act-name parsable-cite="INA">Immigration and Nationality Act</act-name> or, if applicable, the total number of immigrant visas that are made available to natives of the country of the alien’s birth under section 202(e) of such Act.</text></subsection><subsection id="HAD446F57503246978762F549C87F6897"><enum>(f)</enum><header>Denial of Preferential Immigration Treatment for Certain Relatives</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The natural parents, brothers, and sisters of Victoria Galindo Lopez shall not, by virtue of such relationship, be accorded any right, privilege, or status under the <act-name parsable-cite="INA">Immigration and Nationality Act</act-name>.</text></subsection></section></legis-body><attestation><attestation-group><attestation-date date="20220607" chamber="House">Passed the House of Representatives June 7, 2022.</attestation-date><attestor display="yes">Cheryl L.
