R. 1801</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210311">March 11, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="B001285">Ms. Brownley</sponsor> (for herself, <cosponsor name-id="P000614">Mr. Pappas</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="T000469">Mr. Tonko</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="R000577">Mr. Ryan</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="K000368">Mrs. Kirkpatrick</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001066">Ms. Castor of Florida</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="N000147">Ms. Norton</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="H001081">Mrs. Hayes</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="H000324">Mr. Hastings</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HVR00">Committee on Veterans' Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title 38, United States Code, to increase the maximum age for children eligible for medical care under the CHAMPVA program, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H3DB8577006274A9C85F63FA25A98520B" style="OLC"><section id="HBCE8DC2356EA41F7B74C045FE7BD598C" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>CHAMPVA Children’s Care Protection Act of 2021</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HDE6A62609C5440C0B4A0149BAD196E99"><enum>2.</enum><header>Increase of maximum age for children eligible for medical care under CHAMPVA program</header><subsection id="HEAFD272AA7334CCFA5DA80D0BD31F835"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Increase</header><text>Subsection (c) of section 1781 of title 38, United States Code, is amended to read as follows:</text><quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HF8D70E7DD2044746858777BB1D5A54C5" style="OLC"><subsection id="H8EB2650137364922A5474557ED2DD615"><enum>(c)</enum><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H1D2AF3D0A2EA43A09BC15ED089CD2D9A"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Notwithstanding clauses (i) and (iii) of section 101(4)(A) of this title and except as provided in paragraph (2), for purposes of this section, a child is eligible for benefits under subsection (a) until the child's 26th birthday, regardless of the child's marital status.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HE931C332AC774A5B9F9FF98C1E1686AA" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>This subsection shall not be construed to limit eligibility for benefits under subsection (a) of a child described in section 101(4)(A)(ii) of this title.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="HB62E8AD0CAF84853AD7D04CB5DBACD94"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective Date</header><text>Such subsection, as so amended, shall apply with respect to medical care provided on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
