R. 1772</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210310">March 10, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="R000577">Mr. Ryan</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="R000610">Mr. Reschenthaler</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="K000388">Mr. Kelly of Mississippi</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="F000466">Mr. Fitzpatrick</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001196">Ms. Stefanik</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="B001286">Mrs. Bustos</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HFA00">Committee on Foreign Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Passport Act of 1920 to exempt from the collection of certain passport fees an individual who was awarded the Purple Heart, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H8B4AA66800744EF2A1CA8D154C039D27" style="OLC"><section id="HB5046836E46C4B9BA586BB1C16251081" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Passports for Purple Hearts Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H6807D61F1F24416CAF48851D1BFBF5D3"><enum>2.</enum><header>Exemption from certain passport fees of an individual who was awarded the Purple Heart</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1 of the Act of June 1, 1920 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/22/214">22 U.S.C. 214</external-xref>; commonly referred to as the <quote>Passport Act of 1920</quote>), is amended—</text><paragraph id="H9E219A67C01B4D248ECCCAEBE6640422"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in subsection (a), in the third sentence, by inserting <quote>from an individual who was awarded the Purple Heart;</quote> before <quote>or from an individual or individuals abroad</quote>; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="HDDC6226F496E47BD9B98F130206EB843"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="HE203A035A5AB4418A52565BF5FEC5757" display-inline="no-display-inline"><subsection id="HD8915DDC5242460387A294F711B50EEA"><enum>(c)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In this section, the term <quote>passport</quote> includes a passport card.</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
