committed to the Committee of the Whole House on the State of the Union and ordered to be printed</action-desc></action><action><action-desc><pagebreak></pagebreak></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To authorize the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation to establish a commemorative work in the District of Columbia and its environs, and for other purposes.<pagebreak></pagebreak></official-title></form><legis-body id="HC299F762F9D94563B50B0438F5D8C35F" style="OLC"><section section-type="section-one" id="H47626C402BE240D79CF470F79A89CCCA"><enum>1.</enum><header>Authorization to establish commemorative work</header><subsection id="H8AA7BE0F212C491F9CA411D834E8572A"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>The National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation may establish a commemorative work on Federal land in the District of Columbia and its environs to honor the extraordinary acts of valor, selfless service, and sacrifice displayed by Medal of Honor recipients. </text></subsection><subsection id="HCC9968DEAEA94825812532CD2A9728A7"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Compliance with standards for commemorative works</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The establishment of the commemorative work under this section shall be in accordance with <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/40/89">chapter 89</external-xref> of title 40, United States Code (commonly known as the <quote>Commemorative Works Act</quote>).</text></subsection><subsection id="H68ABAC271BA54094BAD42E546BA8253C"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Prohibition on the use of federal funds</header><paragraph id="HB954ED7386254D718AEA141338D88D96"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Federal funds may not be used to pay any expense of the establishment of the commemorative work under this section.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H5E33B5C20C6E496492753D8CE6591FA9"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Responsibility of the national medal of honor museum foundation</header><text>The National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation shall be solely responsible for acceptance of contributions for, and payment of the expenses of, the establishment of the commemorative work under this section.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HB13800F694CB4771AE513FB989B8BC09"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Deposit of excess funds</header><paragraph id="HF4C3E001344E416F910D9C44E258C131"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">If, on payment of all expenses for the establishment of the commemorative work under this section (including the maintenance and preservation amount required by section 8906(b)(1) of title 40, United States Code), there remains a balance of funds received for the establishment of the commemorative work, the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation shall transmit the amount of the balance to the Secretary of the Interior for deposit in the account provided for in section 8906(b)(3) of that title.</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H365CAAF8B3174ADB85942630BD92A35A"><enum>(2)</enum><header>On expiration of authority</header><text>If, on expiration of the authority for the commemorative work under section 8903(e) of title 40, United States Code, there remains a balance of funds received for the establishment of the commemorative work under this section, the National Medal of Honor Museum Foundation shall transmit the amount of the balance to a separate account with the National Park Foundation for memorials, to be available to the Secretary of the Interior or the Administrator of General Services, as appropriate, in accordance with the process provided in paragraph (4) of section 8906(b) of that title for accounts established under paragraph (2) or (3) of that section.</text></paragraph></subsection></section></legis-body><endorsement><action-date>July 26, 2021</action-date><action-desc>Committed to the Committee of the Whole House on the State of the Union and ordered to be printed</action-desc></endorsement></bill>
