R. 1634</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210308">March 8, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="G000563">Mr. Gibbs</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="P000605">Mr. Perry</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000588">Mr. Gonzalez of Ohio</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="M001136">Mrs. McClain</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HHA00">Committee on House Administration</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Help America Vote Act of 2002 to prohibit voting systems used to administer elections for Federal office from containing any wireless components.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HF4C306DB110741B9A7BF42F06E037596" style="OLC"><section id="HEBB57669D9E34F359248C10379ACF4E5" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>No Wireless Installations in Federal Instruments for Voting Act</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>No WIFI Act</short-title></quote>. </text></section><section id="H4C63553E6DE04E4AAF58BAA2C14BF08B" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Prohibiting voting systems from containing wireless components</header><subsection id="HF740240545C24685953DFD2BBF826456"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Prohibition</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 301(a) of the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/52/21081">52 U.S.C. 21081(a)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H8BD9924B5DF0490C8F3F3B1757759E9F" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="H3492CDD0CC4B43EDAAC50C0345B23161"><enum>(7)</enum><header>Prohibiting wireless components</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The voting system may not contain any wireless components.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="HF0ADE5F2DDBD4391AEBD9F7CD4D0AC72"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendment made by subsection (a) shall apply with respect to elections held during 2022 or any succeeding year.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
