R. 1594</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210303">March 3, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="S001211">Mr. Stanton</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="S001205">Ms. Scanlon</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="S001165">Mr. Sires</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="T000193">Mr. Thompson of Mississippi</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="N000147">Ms. Norton</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001143">Ms. McCollum</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001072">Mr. Carson</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="M001160">Ms. Moore of Wisconsin</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="C001068">Mr. Cohen</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="G000551">Mr. Grijalva</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B000490">Mr. Bishop of Georgia</cosponsor>, <cosponsor name-id="B000574">Mr. Blumenauer</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="H001081">Mrs. Hayes</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HBA00">Committee on Financial Services</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Fair Credit Reporting Act to exclude certain evictions and information relating to such evictions from consumer reports, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HE952E326EFC64F42B75C5DFC39D1F697" style="OLC"><section id="HADFA07673A5B45BAB7473667337F4C63" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>COVID–19 Eviction Consumer Report Fairness Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HEDF5AAD154FE4F9A8926A28BF4D5A010"><enum>2.</enum><header>Exclusion of information relating to certain evictions from consumer reports</header><subsection id="H52EAF7B705B44CE889815B396D9B5B03"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 605(a) of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/1681c">15 U.S.C. 1681c(a)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H2D67F32AB87042C5B33616A1188D4569" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="H188455C60B7E49CBB4C27C42F8C4BEFE"><enum>(9)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">An eviction, or any information related to an eviction or a proceeding seeking eviction, of a consumer from a rental dwelling that occurred during the period beginning March 13, 2020, and ending 120 days after the date on which the national emergency concerning the novel coronavirus disease (COVID–19) outbreak declared by the President on March 13, 2020, under the National Emergencies Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/50/1601">50 U.S.C. 1601</external-xref> et seq.) terminates.</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="H37482F6B560042B5905B3F312B8F2EB6"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Applicability</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">This Act and the amendments made by this Act shall apply to any consumer report (as defined in section 603 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/15/1681a">15 U.S.C. 1681a</external-xref>)) issued on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
