R. 1557</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210303">March 3, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="C001111">Mr. Crist</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HWM00">Committee on Ways and Means</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to extend certain credits related to solar energy.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HAE47F8ECE4AA457397EA46EDFBFAA2BA" style="OLC"><section id="H87AEB03BD36C4E66BCA135B5E64D8973" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Sunshine Forever Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="HF3DA72715C444848BC67A3CFE0328ECE"><enum>2.</enum><header>Extension of solar energy credit</header><subsection id="H98D143C980804ACEBD787FA36F3CD93F"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/26/48">Section 48(a)(2)(A)(i)(II)</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by striking <quote>January 1, 2024</quote> and inserting <quote>January 1, 2035</quote>.</text></subsection><subsection id="H54376895292145AF8E8919D722743BDA"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Repeal of phaseout</header><text>Section 48(a) of such Code is amended by striking paragraph (6).</text></subsection><subsection id="HED2E0F4C29B249B98E52DDAB19DC0362"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendments made by this section shall apply to property the construction of which begins after December 31, 2020.</text></subsection></section><section commented="no" id="HAEAE25CA9D6E4BACBE3EB59523743C84"><enum>3.</enum><header>Extension of credits with respect to qualified solar electric property and qualified solar water heating property</header><subsection commented="no" id="H03AAB5474F734465A6EFBCECCABFC65A"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/26/25D">Section 25D(h)</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by inserting <quote>(December 31, 2034, in the case of any qualified solar electric property expenditures and qualified solar water heating property expenditures)</quote> before the period at the end.</text></subsection><subsection id="H3FD38D54FD1541469EECD3FD1AA9CFAE"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Phaseout not applicable</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 25D(g) of such Code is amended by inserting <quote>in the case of any expenditure other than any qualified solar electric property expenditure or qualified solar water heating property expenditure,</quote> after <quote>For purposes of subsection (a),</quote>. </text></subsection><subsection commented="no" id="H6D29373A2D874FC3AACDF2C607D420F8"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text>The amendments made by this section shall apply to property placed in service after December 31, 2020.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
