<section id="H9F1E73F81A0C472EA654E0901F103953" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>The term <quote>State</quote> to include territories for purposes of Federal law</header>
<subsection id="HFCBAB28AC896498099D27153B3E2F4F5"><enum>(a)</enum><header>The term <quote>State</quote> To include territories</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/1/1">Chapter 1</external-xref> of title 1, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following:</text> <quoted-block style="USC" id="HAF89D8A6202540D88CDF084DADE35A34" display-inline="no-display-inline"> <section id="HB88C9A31D8F2470A9BBA341EA8CE0864"><enum>9.</enum><header>Rule of construction regarding the term <quote>State</quote></header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">In determining the meaning of any Act of Congress, or of any ruling, regulation, or interpretation of the various administrative bureaus and agencies of the United States, the term <quote>State</quote> shall include any territory of the United States, unless the statute, rule, regulation, or interpretation explicitly excludes the territories from the definition of the term or otherwise precludes their inclusion. </text></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection>
