R. 1218</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210223">February 23, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="B001251">Mr. Butterfield</sponsor> (for himself, <cosponsor name-id="B001257">Mr. Bilirakis</cosponsor>, and <cosponsor name-id="B001303">Ms. Blunt Rochester</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Committee on Energy and Commerce</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To require the Federal Communications Commission to incorporate data on maternal health outcomes into its broadband health maps.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HA2ACBE624F264BCDB74289D824644F49" style="OLC"><section id="HF665AB3CD1C640C4B2A7A1D0852D73E8" section-type="section-one" changed="not-changed" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline"><enum>1.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Data Mapping to Save Moms’ Lives Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H476F774A4BBE4665975F5B56D086CCFF" changed="not-changed" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Mapping broadband connectivity and maternal health outcomes</header><subsection id="HFA32E01A8623405F9CCA2524BC4A4221" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" changed="not-changed"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Incorporation of maternal health outcome data</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Federal Communications Commission shall incorporate data on maternal health outcomes for not less than 1 year postpartum, as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention under subsection (b), into the most recently available broadband health mapping tools of the Commission.</text></subsection><subsection id="H8CCEAD620C774A7B9044F0CC8A7EE415" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" changed="not-changed"><enum>(b)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Consultation with CDC</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Federal Communications Commission shall consult with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding the maternal health outcomes that should be incorporated into the most recently available broadband health mapping tools of the Commission under subsection (a).</text></subsection></section><section id="H5EF0C688105A43E797C59495C44CADBE" changed="not-changed" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>3.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">GAO study</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Comptroller General of the United States shall study and submit to Congress a report on—</text><paragraph id="H96B0E19AE30840D8B0390841B0A91A24" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" changed="not-changed"><enum>(1)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">the effectiveness of internet connectivity in reducing maternal morbidity rates; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H975211E3C7EE4C038EE32D3C32564794" commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" changed="not-changed"><enum>(2)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">who is best suited to take responsibility for ensuring better internet connectivity to reduce maternal morbidity rates.</text></paragraph></section></legis-body></bill>
