which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HHA00">Committee on House Administration</committee-name>, and in addition to the Committee on <committee-name committee-id="HPW00">Transportation and Infrastructure</committee-name>, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To provide for additional space and resources for the protection and preservation of national collections held by the Smithsonian Institution and the National Gallery of Art.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HAA78F0ADE68E4220BF020F8CCA2E63D2" style="OLC"><section section-type="section-one" id="H5AC3F410F702420FA2592AC8F39CF7BE"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Smithsonian and National Gallery of Art Collections Space Authorization Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H836E5BF6448B498EA1456B9DBFD41FC6"><enum>2.</enum><header>Additional space and resources for national collections held by the Smithsonian Institution and by the National Gallery of Art</header><subsection id="H535C8553D7ED4C2CBBD5641E4206F4A3"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Public Law 94–98 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/50">20 U.S.C. 50</external-xref> note; 89 Stat. 480) is amended by adding at the end the following new section: </text><quoted-block style="OLC" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HB0A3D3499D464E5E9C8968B45A8019FC"><section id="HA0B19B775CC34A058F2DA91A582D870E"><enum>5.</enum><header>Additional space and resources for national collections held by the Smithsonian Institution and by the National Gallery of Art</header><subsection id="H673915199C874FF8BBA7C88212D869D0"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution and the Board of Trustees of the National Gallery of Art may plan, design, construct, operate, and use a collections storage space at the museum support facility of the Smithsonian Institution in Suitland, Maryland, to accommodate the care, preservation, conservation, storage, and study of national collections held in trust by the Smithsonian Institution and the National Gallery of Art.</text></subsection><subsection id="H7149CDEB166D4E9888EB58434D0651C1"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Agreements</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution and the Board of Trustees of the National Gallery of Art shall carry out this section in accordance with agreements entered into by their respective institutions which set forth the respective roles, rights, and responsibilities of the Boards under this section, including responsibilities with respect to costs, and their respective institutions are hereby authorized to enter into such agreements of any duration or term that the Boards determine necessary to carry out this section.</text></subsection><subsection id="HA2BD19EBB3784CA1BA3BCA22EA4A3AE2"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Authorization of appropriations</header><paragraph id="H6F95DB5CDF5640ACBF7F13C055887FD8"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Smithsonian Institution</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">There are authorized to be appropriated to the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution to carry out this section—</text><subparagraph id="H9E025766DB584E3EA85A6F5546EA36AE"><enum>(A)</enum><text>$7,600,000 for fiscal year 2022;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H4CA38AF4957B4535940FE79A4E86A0C3"><enum>(B)</enum><text>$36,000,000 for fiscal year 2023;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HE566D4078DB24304A5BBFFE24ABA15D9"><enum>(C)</enum><text>$37,000,000 for fiscal year 2024; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H3BF0093D8F37441FBBEC0F592F871999"><enum>(D)</enum><text>$4,290,000 for fiscal year 2025.</text></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H8488490AAE374E87A86BA37B9E58FBBF"><enum>(2)</enum><header>National Gallery of Art</header><text>There are authorized to be appropriated to the Board of Trustees of the National Gallery of Art to carry out this section—</text><subparagraph id="H55305039187C4CF0AA3D01DD1754101A"><enum>(A)</enum><text>$11,460,000 for fiscal year 2022;</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H93C55DEDDF4148D1B409FB588AC04B09"><enum>(B)</enum><text>$14,210,000 for fiscal year 2023; and</text></subparagraph><subparagraph id="HDA4F0CE858A74C1B992770EBCC907209"><enum>(C)</enum><text>$13,090,000 for fiscal year 2024.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="H94DA372DD80E45FFB6F9FF2B83A3DAD5"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Conforming amendment</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 3 of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/94/98">Public Law 94–98</external-xref> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/50">20 U.S.C. 50</external-xref> note; 89 Stat. 480) is amended by striking <quote>(other than section 4)</quote> and inserting <quote>(other than sections 4 and 5)</quote>.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
