R. 1168</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20210218">February 18, 2021</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="P000605">Mr. Perry</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="G000578">Mr. Gaetz</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HFA00">Committee on Foreign Affairs</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To prohibit all United States assessed and voluntary contributions to the World Health Organization until such time as the membership in the World Health Organization of the People’s Republic of China is terminated and the Republic of China (Taiwan) is afforded full rights, privileges, and responsibilities as a Member State in the World Health Organization, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H4D1F35C5838147D8B17C976F147C26B4" style="OLC"><section id="HC3BAD5CE1FE64D3DB8BA215FC2100C06" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>World Health Act</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H5FF9E117CA6747F88ED3EA250D7246F3"><enum>2.</enum><header>Membership of taiwan in the world health organization</header><subsection id="H9DDE3D86D2444DB5ACF8A395ACB8C05E"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Notwithstanding any other provision of law, effective on the date of the enactment of this Act, the United States shall withhold all assessed and voluntary contributions to the World Health Organization until such time as the membership of the People’s Republic of China in the World Health Organization is terminated and the Republic of China (Taiwan) is afforded full rights, privileges, and responsibilities as a Member State in the World Health Organization.</text></subsection><subsection id="HB7650F1272D9442084670C202EFB9035"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Presidential action</header><text>The President is authorized to take any appropriate action to carry out subsection (a).</text></subsection><subsection id="H39495DF0ADF54F6CB6B615334C27478C"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Actions at the world health organization</header><text>The President shall direct the United States representative to the World Health Organization to use the voice, vote, and influence of the United States at the World Health Organization to encourage Members States of the World Health Organization to take actions identical or similar to the action described in subsection (a).</text></subsection><subsection id="H8079A5CDAA694F9EB80725EC3AD5D8B3"><enum>(d)</enum><header>No effect on the united states in the world health organization</header><text>United States membership in the World Health Organization shall not be affected in any way by the any action under this section.</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
