R. 8932</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20201210">December 10, 2020</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="G000571">Ms. Gabbard</sponsor> introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HED00">Committee on Education and Labor</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To provide that for purposes of determining compliance with title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 in athletics, sex shall be determined on the basis of biological sex as determined at birth by a physician.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HCE9DF2666B574F1DAAE87B6ACBFDC0FD" style="OLC"><section id="H00B575EB097C4E0BA0DCBE705C7946BE" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Protect Women’s Sports Act of 2020</short-title></quote>.</text></section><section id="H4FC9BA15446B46E5ADC227A21A509B53"><enum>2.</enum><header>Amendment</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 901 of the Education Amendments of 1972 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1681">20 U.S.C. 1681(a)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H50B28CA42E3D4D7E83CF11A36FC96760" display-inline="no-display-inline"><subsection id="HFAD38FC45C1B49B1A8E0BAC28A73E873"><enum>(d)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">It shall be a violation of subsection (a) for a recipient of Federal funds who operates, sponsors, or facilitates athletic programs or activities to permit a person whose biological sex at birth is male to participate in an athletic program or activity that is designated for women or girls. </text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
