R. 7898</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20200731">July 31, 2020</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="B001248">Mr. Burgess</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="W000800">Mr. Welch</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Committee on Energy and Commerce</committee-name></action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To amend title XXX of the Public Health Services Act to provide for a technical correction to provide the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Service certain authorities with respect to investigations of information blocking, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="H21D8D9375F404E428D5C2105BF277BAB" style="OLC"><section id="H0CF71178CF6E4463B216DCF79EE3E6EB" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Technical correction</header><subsection id="HAC662D23B51F4CFB85FD57E84D849C56"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 3022(b) of the Public Health Service Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/42/300jj-52">42 U.S.C. 300jj–52(b)</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following new paragraph:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="H9912C078863F42A58EAC9AB76F14BAB1" display-inline="no-display-inline"><paragraph id="H48305B49433343A38C56CC0CCE563D6A"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Application of authorities under Inspector General Act of 1978</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In carrying out this subsection, the Inspector General shall have the same authorities as provided under <external-xref legal-doc="usc-act" parsable-cite="usc-act/Inspector General Act of 1978 /6">section 6</external-xref> of the Inspector General Act of 1978 (5 U.S.C. App.).</text></paragraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></subsection><subsection id="H05FFA325532E48C2AF78133273E7ED1C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Effective date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendment made by subsection (a) shall take effect as if included in the enactment of the 21st Century Cures Act (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/114/255">Public Law 114–255</external-xref>).</text></subsection></section></legis-body></bill>
