R. 6535</legis-num><current-chamber>IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES</current-chamber><action display="yes"><action-date date="20200417">April 17, 2020</action-date><action-desc><sponsor name-id="G000574">Mr. Gallego</sponsor> (for himself and <cosponsor name-id="M001190">Mr. Mullin</cosponsor>) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the <committee-name committee-id="HII00">Committee on Natural Resources</committee-name>, and in addition to the Committees on <committee-name committee-id="HIF00">Energy and Commerce</committee-name>, and <committee-name committee-id="HJU00">the Judiciary</committee-name>, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned</action-desc></action><legis-type>A BILL</legis-type><official-title display="yes">To deem an urban Indian organization and employees thereof to be a part of the Public Health Service for the purposes of certain claims for personal injury, and for other purposes.</official-title></form><legis-body id="HACBFD44D667D4EEC9AB28AA49F7DEBE4" style="OLC"><section id="H33F52FC0F7CF43A191C8CE9D23447873" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Deeming an urban Indian organization and employees thereof to be a part of the Public Health Service for the purposes of certain claims for personal injury</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Title V of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/25/1651">25 U.S.C. 1651</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text><quoted-block style="OLC" id="HE469BC34E6D14892920666AA8F270184" display-inline="no-display-inline"><section id="H1D1991FCF6D748F0969C8FCCE33A281F"><enum>519.</enum><header>Deeming an urban Indian organization and employees thereof to be a part of the Public Health Service for the purposes of certain claims for personal injury</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 102(d) of the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act shall apply—</text><paragraph id="HA427B2D91C144E3A87481CD750BA60BB"><enum>(1)</enum><text>to an Urban Indian organization to the same extent and in the same manner as such section applies to an Indian tribe, a tribal organization, and an Indian contractor; and</text></paragraph><paragraph id="H7805865949FB4F989B8036A03AB23BE6"><enum>(2)</enum><text>to the employees of an Urban Indian organization to the same extent and in the same manner as such section applies to employees of an Indian tribe, a tribal organization, or an Indian contractor. </text></paragraph></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block></section></legis-body></bill>
