		<section id="H04A54A2B7A384C02837CFC21A6BBD0BC" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Government Publishing Office</header>
 <subsection id="H1317FC238B9A4AFDA36170343CBB8F8A"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 442 of title 18, United States Code, is amended to read as follows:</text> <quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H5F51A56DDC734347A53C27422F03DAB8" style="USC"> <section id="H915E4A744B3147779F4E9BD9B1C2F721"><enum>442.</enum><header>Government Publishing Office</header> <subsection id="HE75548D5D41647A7A1DFE44749064342"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In this section—</text>
 <paragraph id="H661BEB23A98541E2B8FAB78BBE81C95D"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the terms <term>diversified</term>, <term>employee benefit plan</term>, <term>holdings</term>, <term>mutual fund</term>, and <term>unit investment trust</term> have the meanings given those terms under section 2640.102 of title 5, Code of Federal Regulations, or any successor thereto; and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H3E57079DA1AA47EBB44EB0309ED7D822"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the term <term>printing-related interest</term> means an interest, direct or indirect, in—</text> <subparagraph id="H4928EB474174408B9C56FAF4B6C64E03"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the publication of any newspaper or periodical;</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H87675AF8F4574A5A916AEF60E4ABB28D"><enum>(B)</enum><text>any printing, binding, engraving, or lithographing of any kind; or</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HBE23F11EB7584BB9B229E020C51FBF86"><enum>(C)</enum><text>any contract for furnishing paper or other material connected with the public printing, binding, lithographing, or engraving.</text>
								</subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H0755C88989FD4CA9B13CD22D83931A44"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Offense</header>
 <paragraph id="H01FBF068997246B2ACB6E47B28A648B9"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Except as provided in paragraph (2), the Director of the Government Publishing Office, Deputy Director of the Government Publishing Office, nor any of their assistants as determined by the Director of the Government Publishing Office shall not, during his or her continuance in office, have any printing-related interest.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HE52F7D15D7164E6DA8B83B3A5CEB48B1"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Exception for mutual funds, unit investment trusts, employee benefit plans, and retirement plans</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">It shall not be a violation of paragraph (1) for an individual who is described in such paragraph to have an interest in a diversified mutual fund, diversified unit investment trust, employee benefit plan, investment fund under the Thrift Savings Plan under subchapter III of <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/5/84">chapter 84</external-xref> of title 5, or pension plan established or maintained by a State government or any political subdivision of a State government for its employees that has 1 or more holdings that are printing-related interests if the fund, trust, or plan does not exhibit a practice of concentrating in printing-related interests.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HA7CC0EAF5C7A4E4CA1DA8685665062A9"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Authority of supervising ethics office</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The supervising ethics office for the Government Publishing Office under the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 (5 U.S.C. App.) shall have the authority to issue rules and promulgate regulations governing the implementation of this subsection.</text>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H630883A378064D909104535066B79D1B"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Penalty</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Whoever violates subsection (b)(1) shall be fined under this title, imprisoned for not more than 1 year, or both.</text></subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </subsection><subsection id="H1067F4A8E33949D89E05FD0F87589CD5"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Technical and conforming amendment</header><text>The table of sections for <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/18/23">chapter 23</external-xref> of title 18, United States Code, is amended by striking the item relating to section 442 and inserting the following:</text>
