			 notice to students receiving work-study assistance about potential
			 eligibility for participation in the supplemental nutrition assistance
			 program, and for other purposes.</official-title></form>

 <section id="H03A61F1E51D8434CA14D5716E20874D6" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Opportunity to Address College Hunger Act</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="H27EBAF70CC6848ECA008CD91395FF5FD" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Notification regarding SNAP for students receiving Federal work-study assistance</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 443 of the Higher Education Act of 1965 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/20/1087-53">20 U.S.C. 1087–53</external-xref>) is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>
			<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HDBC7403E1BA7450688C9907575B8B439" style="OLC">
				<subsection id="H219C46D7694D44C396FD1BDD05C79713"><enum>(f)</enum><header>Notification regarding SNAP</header>
 <paragraph display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H136631FF26FF4912AC58EF1ADB697372"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">An institution receiving a grant under this part shall send a notification (by email or other electronic means) to each eligible student informing the student of their potential eligibility for participation in the SNAP and the process for obtaining more information, confirming eligibility, and accessing benefits under that program. The notification shall be developed by the Secretary of Education in consultation with the Secretary of Agriculture, and shall include details on eligibility requirements for participation in the SNAP that a student must satisfy. The notification shall be, to the extent practicable, specific to the student’s State of residence and shall provide contact information for the local office where an application for the SNAP may be made.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H298A85021EF7485B8340EFC8F22A6CC6"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Evidence of participation in federally financed work-study program</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The notification under paragraph (1) shall include an official document confirming that the recipient is an eligible student sufficient for purposes of demonstrating that the exclusion from ineligibility for participation in the SNAP under section 6(e)(4) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/2015">7 U.S.C. 2015(e)(4)</external-xref>) applies to the student.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HF7FE1E745E57454F8E5910431A89EA6C"><enum>(3)</enum><header>Guidance</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary of Education, in consultation with the Secretary of Agriculture, shall provide guidance to States and institutions of higher education on how to identify and communicate with students who are likely to be eligible for the SNAP, including those eligible for a State or federally financed work-study program.</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HF24F6130E69E43F5B54130FA205B5B0A"><enum>(4)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>For purposes of this subsection:</text> <subparagraph id="H0094D6287E5344B18DB0A5471B3D0ED9"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>eligible student</quote> means a student receiving work-study assistance under this part.</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HA050259D0FE3423F8D8863FB4F450BD5"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The term <quote>SNAP</quote> means the supplemental nutrition assistance program (as defined in section 3(t) of the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/7/2012">7 U.S.C. 2012(t)</external-xref>)).</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
