			 attempted suicide of a veteran in a Department of Veterans Affairs
			 facility, and for other purposes.</official-title></form>

 <section id="HA7DB728C796F4D5DA4EEDF8EDBD8BF44" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Fostering Intergovernmental Health Transparency in Veteran Suicides Act</short-title></quote> or <quote><short-title>FIGHT Veteran Suicides Act</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="H993313BC251B4563B0D2CC863B64ACEF"><enum>2.</enum><header>Congressional notice of suicides and attempted suicides of veterans in Department of Veterans Affairs facilities</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1720F of title 38, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text>
			<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H6046CB9B3F9B4A878F5AFCD0771DBEC4" style="USC">
				<subsection id="H425A37612521494883BBA1DE6101BB39"><enum>(l)</enum><header>Congressional notice requirements</header>
 <paragraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="HD8539FDEC78C41BA90D950B49D7A80BE"><enum>(1)</enum><text>In the case of the suicide or attempted suicide of any veteran that occurs in, or on the grounds of, a Department facility, the Secretary shall submit to the Committees on Veterans’ Affairs of the Senate and the House of Representatives and the Senator and member of Congress representing the district in which the facility is located the following notices:</text>
 <subparagraph id="H5B8B76A93A55400FB08939890FA7E00B" indent="up1"><enum>(A)</enum><text>Not later than seven days after the date on which the suicide or attempted suicide occurs, notice of—</text>
 <clause id="H74E84C805606495AB84F2FA1DF65F15F"><enum>(i)</enum><text>the suicide or attempted suicide; and</text> </clause><clause id="H7E62C9CAAF494CE1B9C17CF4741CB062"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>the name of the facility and location where the suicide or attempted suicide occurred.</text>
 </clause></subparagraph><subparagraph id="H6DAC35B1FD5E420581444E13B3680329" indent="up1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>Not later than 60 days after such date, notice of the following information regarding the veteran who committed or attempted to commit suicide:</text>
 <clause id="HD774A67DD3E94C4D8BE4715CC3758766"><enum>(i)</enum><text>The enrollment status of the veteran with respect to the patient enrollment system of the Department under section 1705 of this title.</text>
 </clause><clause id="HDCEE0BE49D184EE381F2CF39E6EAD039"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>The most recent encounter between the veteran and any employee or facility of the Veterans Health Administration before the suicide or attempted suicide occurred.</text>
 </clause><clause id="H9F26A65F18DE48E4BAA7EA7146BA8E63"><enum>(iii)</enum><text>Whether the veteran had private medical insurance.</text> </clause><clause id="HB64725B78B1049ACA3297E9588894C83"><enum>(iv)</enum><text>The Armed Force in which the veteran served.</text>
 </clause><clause id="H94FE6D1D06D9473E8AC8AB305CEFD956"><enum>(v)</enum><text>The time period when the veteran served in the Armed Forces.</text> </clause><clause id="H0C853DB13C584D569D5206423D375085"><enum>(vi)</enum><text>The age of the veteran.</text>
 </clause><clause id="HADDD4C6E1C81407EAFC9B965F095BB3E"><enum>(vii)</enum><text>The marital status of the veteran.</text> </clause><clause id="HE1D904CE73D44927903F4F4ABBF4F8D5"><enum>(viii)</enum><text>The employment status of the veteran.</text>
 </clause><clause id="HA41DA94A51344EC3B065583C66302593"><enum>(ix)</enum><text>The housing status of the veteran.</text> </clause><clause id="H6ED985A307624956827F6198854CBDFA"><enum>(x)</enum><text>Confirmation that the Secretary has provided notice to the immediate family members of the veteran regarding any Department support or assistance for which such family members may be eligible.</text>
 </clause></subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H17F59AAE96C24C0A9080CBA8538DD488" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>Each notice submitted under subparagraph (A) or (B) of paragraph (1) shall include a copy of guidance developed by the Secretary for purposes of dissemination that is designed to—</text>
 <subparagraph id="HC098D6232F624F58B061991BBEC9799D"><enum>(A)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">deter the sensationalism of suicide;</text> </subparagraph><subparagraph id="H555E431B54D84973BB1B9E58853B920E"><enum>(B)</enum><text>provide information regarding warning signs that are often exhibited by veterans at risk of suicide; and</text>
 </subparagraph><subparagraph id="HDD263D0F1C2846B4BDCA7F50DFF4B47C"><enum>(C)</enum><text>provide notice of the resources the Department offers to veterans who may be at risk of suicide, including the Veterans Crisis Line and readjustment counseling provided through Vet Centers.</text></subparagraph></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
