<enactingFormula style="-uslm-lc:I650120">  Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa­tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,</enactingFormula>
<section id="d20243e62" identifier="/us/bill/115/hr/46/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I650146"><num value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I650120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Fort Ontario Study Act</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d20243e72" identifier="/us/bill/115/hr/46/s2" style="-uslm-lc:I650141"><num value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>DEFINITIONS.</heading><chapeau class="indentUp0 firstIndent1 fontsize10" style="-uslm-lc:I650120">  In this Act:</chapeau><paragraph class="indentUp1 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d20243e78" identifier="/us/bill/115/hr/46/s2/1" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I650122"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><heading><inline class="smallCaps">Secretary</inline>.—</heading><content>The term “<term>Secretary</term>” means the Secretary of the Interior.</content></paragraph><paragraph class="indentUp1 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d20243e86" identifier="/us/bill/115/hr/46/s2/2" role="definitions" style="-uslm-lc:I650122"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><heading><inline class="smallCaps">Study area</inline>.—</heading><content>The term “<term>study area</term>” means Fort Ontario in Oswego, New York.</content></paragraph></section>
<section id="d20243e95" identifier="/us/bill/115/hr/46/s3" style="-uslm-lc:I650141"><num value="3">SEC. 3. </num><heading>FORT ONTARIO SPECIAL RESOURCE STUDY.</heading><subsection class="indentUp0 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d20243e99" identifier="/us/bill/115/hr/46/s3/a" style="-uslm-lc:I650120"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><content>The Secretary shall conduct a special resource study of the study area.</content></subsection><subsection class="indentUp0 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d20243e107" identifier="/us/bill/115/hr/46/s3/b" style="-uslm-lc:I650120"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading><inline class="smallCaps">Contents</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>In conducting the study under subsection (a), the Secretary shall—</chapeau><paragraph class="indentUp1 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d20243e115" identifier="/us/bill/115/hr/46/s3/b/1" style="-uslm-lc:I650122"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>evaluate the national significance of the study area;</content></paragraph><paragraph class="indentUp1 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d20243e119" identifier="/us/bill/115/hr/46/s3/b/2" style="-uslm-lc:I650122"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>determine the suitability and feasibility of designating the study area as a unit of the National Park System;</content></paragraph><paragraph class="indentUp1 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d20243e123" identifier="/us/bill/115/hr/46/s3/b/3" style="-uslm-lc:I650122"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="3">(3) </num><content>consider other alternatives for preservation, protection, and interpretation of the study area by the Federal Government, State or local government entities, or private and nonprofit organizations;</content></paragraph><paragraph class="indentUp1 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d20243e127" identifier="/us/bill/115/hr/46/s3/b/4" style="-uslm-lc:I650122"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="4">(4) </num><content>consult with interested Federal agencies, State or local governmental entities, private and nonprofit organizations, or any other interested individuals; and</content></paragraph><paragraph class="indentUp1 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d20243e131" identifier="/us/bill/115/hr/46/s3/b/5" style="-uslm-lc:I650122"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="5">(5) </num><content>identify cost estimates for any Federal acquisition, development, interpretation, operation, and maintenance associated with the alternatives.</content></paragraph></subsection><subsection class="indentUp0 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d20243e135" identifier="/us/bill/115/hr/46/s3/c" style="-uslm-lc:I650120"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="c">(c) </num><heading><inline class="smallCaps">Applicable Law</inline>.—</heading><content>The study required under subsection (a) shall be conducted in accordance with <ref href="/us/usc/t54/s100507">section 100507 of title 54, United States Code</ref>.</content></subsection><subsection class="indentUp0 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d20243e147" identifier="/us/bill/115/hr/46/s3/d" style="-uslm-lc:I650120"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="d">(d) </num><heading><inline class="smallCaps">Report</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>Not later than 3 years after the date on which funds are first made available to carry out the study under subsection (a), the Secretary shall submit to the Committee on Natural Resources of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources of the Senate a report that describes—</chapeau><page/>
<paragraph class="indentUp1 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d20243e157" identifier="/us/bill/115/hr/46/s3/d/1" style="-uslm-lc:I650122"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="1">(1) </num><content>the results of the study; and</content></paragraph><paragraph class="indentUp1 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d20243e161" identifier="/us/bill/115/hr/46/s3/d/2" style="-uslm-lc:I650122"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="2">(2) </num><content>any conclusions and recommendations of the Secretary.</content></paragraph></subsection></section>
