			 Memorial Fund to employees of the United States Capitol Police who have
			 sustained serious line-of-duty injuries, and for other purposes. </official-title>

 <section id="HA9A20F6067A8428E968B2242E9369FF5" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Wounded Officers Recovery Act of 2017</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section id="HDA000684976241B892B4CFEDAB7D9C2C"><enum>2.</enum><header>Payments from United States Capitol Police Memorial Fund to employees sustaining serious line-of-duty injuries</header> <subsection id="HC615DD5D16634A8BBA5B7DA8B3840036"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Authorizing payments from Fund</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 2 of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/105/223">Public Law 105–223</external-xref> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2/1952">2 U.S.C. 1952</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
 <paragraph id="HA558CAFBEB084245A8CEB339385B76E6"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in the section heading, by inserting <quote><header-in-text level="section" style="OLC">and certain other United States Capitol Police employees</header-in-text></quote> before the period at the end;</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="H642B8943DDED4351B5896AEA9CB2E6D8"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking <quote>Subject to the regulations</quote> and inserting <quote>(a) <header-in-text level="subsection" style="OLC">In general</header-in-text>.—Except to the extent used or reserved for use under subsection (b) and subject to the regulations</quote>; and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H22FA03F43DB14E12ADFA093E0714E411"><enum>(3)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text> <quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H04D3AD15886140598BEB9CEDB17854DA" style="OLC"> <subsection id="HDF8DE0FBF8924B89947390600B6AAFD7"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Payments for employees sustaining serious line-of-Duty injuries</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In addition to the amounts paid under subsection (a), amounts in the Fund may be paid to employees of the United States Capitol Police who have sustained serious line-of-duty injuries, in accordance with the regulations issued under section 4(b).</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HC5AA2D1BEE4E474EA4952559ABE4DF17"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Regulations of Capitol Police Board</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 4 of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/105/223">Public Law 105–223</external-xref> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2/1954">2 U.S.C. 1954</external-xref>) is amended—</text> <paragraph id="H6CE9E6C00F7649229FC1CE602E7DDF54"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by striking <quote>The Capitol Police Board</quote> and inserting <quote>(a) <header-in-text level="subsection" style="OLC">In general</header-in-text>.—The Capitol Police Board</quote>; and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="HCEDB3A040522455CA8E40EBF50047CF2"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text> <quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H53A1380D70D043DD8039F7CEEDA7A741" style="OLC"> <subsection id="HD686A037C8E24938B8FE57BF654250D9"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Regulations governing payments to employees sustaining serious line-of-Duty injuries</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">In carrying out subsection (a), the Capitol Police Board shall issue specific regulations governing the use of the Fund for making payments to employees of the United States Capitol Police who have sustained serious line-of-duty injuries (as authorized under section 2(b)), including regulations—</text>
 <paragraph id="H1DCE72B2FCC54D39B6E5CD309999FAD7"><enum>(1)</enum><text>establishing the conditions under which an employee is eligible to receive such a payment;</text> </paragraph><paragraph id="H165ED7991CB344AEBE4215986EC9F3F3"><enum>(2)</enum><text>providing for the amount, timing, and manner of such payments; and</text>
 </paragraph><paragraph id="H1798F3E510694C7A839E8285513307A7"><enum>(3)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">ensuring that any such payment is in addition to, and does not otherwise affect, any other form of compensation payable to the employee, including benefits for workers’ compensation under <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/5/81">chapter 81</external-xref> of title 5, United States Code.</text></paragraph></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H73BF8B6AD3AC461BB0A1C8A8F340794C"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Treatment of amounts received in response to incident of June 14, 2017</header><text>The second sentence of section 1 of <external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/105/223">Public Law 105–223</external-xref> (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/2/1951">2 U.S.C. 1951</external-xref>) is amended by striking <quote>deposit into the Fund</quote> and inserting <quote>deposit into the Fund, including amounts received in response to the shooting incident at the practice for the Congressional Baseball Game for Charity on June 14, 2017,</quote>.</text>
