		<official-title>To modify the requirements of the Department of Veterans Affairs for reimbursing health care
			 providers under section 101 of the Veterans Access, Choice, and
			 Accountability Act of 2014, and for other purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header>
 <text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>Veterans Choice Card Prompt Payment Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="id99C120D0FFC446A9AB185C00950A0C85"><enum>2.</enum><header>Modification of prompt payment requirements for the Department of Veterans Affairs under the Choice
 Program</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 101(d)(2) of the Veterans Access, Choice, and Accountability Act of 2014 (<external-xref legal-doc="public-law" parsable-cite="pl/113/146">Public Law 113–146</external-xref>; <external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/38/1701">38 U.S.C. 1701</external-xref> note) is amended by adding at the end the following new subparagraph:</text>

				<subparagraph id="idFE3E9477669D40EABD1B5F9607417FA2"><enum>(D)</enum><header>Prompt payment by Department</header>
 <clause id="idEC1157134DF54297911C9E3D3CA510FD"><enum>(i)</enum><header>In general</header><text>The receipt by the Secretary of a request for reimbursement for care or services furnished by an entity to an eligible veteran under this section is sufficient to require the Secretary to reimburse the entity for such care or services, even if such request for reimbursement does not include the medical records of the eligible veteran in connection with such care or services.</text>
 </clause><clause id="idE96C8A5638694E6C986309E0D0E524E3"><enum>(ii)</enum><header>Period for payment</header><text>For purposes of <external-xref legal-doc="usc-chapter" parsable-cite="usc-chapter/31/39">chapter 39</external-xref> of title 31, United States Code (commonly referred to as the <quote>Prompt Payment Act</quote>), the period during which the Secretary is required to reimburse an entity for care or services furnished under this section shall begin on the date on which the Secretary receives a request for reimbursement described in clause (i), even if such request does not include medical records.</text>
 </clause><clause id="id0169234B09354449A12BCE9459C40416"><enum>(iii)</enum><header>Rule of construction</header><text>Nothing in this subparagraph may be construed to eliminate the requirement of an entity seeking reimbursement for care or services furnished under this section to submit medical records to the Secretary in connection with such care or services.</text></clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
