<enactingFormula style="-uslm-lc:I650120">  Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa­tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,</enactingFormula>
<section id="d61777e62" identifier="/us/bill/114/s/2162/s1" style="-uslm-lc:I650146"><num value="1">SECTION 1. </num><heading>SHORT TITLE.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I650120">  This Act may be cited as the “<shortTitle role="act">Librarian of Congress Succession Modernization Act of 2015</shortTitle>”.</content></section>
<section id="d61777e72" identifier="/us/bill/114/s/2162/s2" style="-uslm-lc:I650141"><num value="2">SEC. 2. </num><heading>APPOINTMENT AND TERM OF SERVICE OF LIBRARIAN OF CONGRESS.</heading><subsection class="indentUp0 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d61777e76" identifier="/us/bill/114/s/2162/s2/a" style="-uslm-lc:I650120"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="a">(a) </num><heading><inline class="smallCaps">In General</inline>.—</heading><content>The President shall appoint the Librarian of Congress, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate.</content></subsection><subsection class="indentUp0 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d61777e84" identifier="/us/bill/114/s/2162/s2/b" style="-uslm-lc:I650120"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="b">(b) </num><heading><inline class="smallCaps">Term of Service</inline>.—</heading><content>The Librarian of Congress shall be appointed for a term of 10 years.</content></subsection><subsection class="indentUp0 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d61777e92" identifier="/us/bill/114/s/2162/s2/c" style="-uslm-lc:I650120"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="c">(c) </num><heading><inline class="smallCaps">Reappointment</inline>.—</heading><content>An individual appointed to the position of Librarian of Congress, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, may be reappointed to that position in accordance with subsections (a) and (b).</content></subsection><subsection class="indentUp0 firstIndent1 fontsize10" id="d61777e100" identifier="/us/bill/114/s/2162/s2/d" style="-uslm-lc:I650120"><num style="-uslm-lc:emspace2" value="d">(d) </num><heading><inline class="smallCaps">Effective Date</inline>.—</heading><content>This section shall apply with respect to appointments made on or after the date of the enactment of this Act.</content></subsection></section>
<section id="d61777e109" identifier="/us/bill/114/s/2162/s3" role="instruction" style="-uslm-lc:I650141"><num value="3">SEC. 3. </num><heading>CONFORMING AMENDMENT.</heading><content style="-uslm-lc:I650120">  The first paragraph under the center heading “<headingText class="smallCaps">library of congress</headingText>” under the center heading “<headingText>LEGISLATIVE</headingText>” of the Act entitled “An Act Making appropriations for the legislative, executive, and judicial expenses of the Government for the fiscal year ending June thirtieth, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, and for other purposes”, approved February 19, 1897 (<ref href="/us/stat/29/544/ch265">29 Stat. 544, chapter 265</ref>; <ref href="/us/usc/t2/s136">2 U.S.C. 136</ref>), <amendingAction type="amend">is amended</amendingAction> by <amendingAction type="delete">striking</amendingAction> “<quotedText>to be appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate,</quotedText>”.</content></section>
