			 competition in the Olympic Games or the Paralympic Games.</official-title></form>

 <section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HFB5253851D134DF78DB115E4B1F06155" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the <quote><short-title>United States Appreciation for Olympians and Paralympians Act</short-title></quote>.</text> </section><section commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H41376526171146738A72C0E07CDF177B" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Olympic and Paralympic medals and USOC prize money excluded from gross income</header> <subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="HFE0B29D52D974D5BBABCA00A568FA11B"><enum>(a)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">In general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/26/74">Section 74</external-xref> of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 is amended by adding at the end the following new subsection:</text>

 <subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H96CE83B849BA4EA291CE341C1E673CAB"><enum>(d)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Exception for Olympic and Paralympic medals and prizes</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Gross income shall not include the value of any medal awarded in, or any prize money received from the United States Olympic Committee on account of, competition in the Olympic Games or Paralympic Games.</text></subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
 </subsection><subsection commented="no" display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H3CB5A5D928C24E52B65B88E697E081D6"><enum>(b)</enum><header display-inline="yes-display-inline">Effective date</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The amendment made by this section shall apply to prizes and awards received after December 31, 2015.</text>
