		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Permanent resident status for Meriam Yahya Ibrahim, Martin Wani, and
Maya Wani</header>
			<subsection id="id4B10C1B581954B21B53F264008930FE3"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In general</header><text>Notwithstanding subsections (a) and (b) of section 201 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8
			 U.S.C. 1151), Meriam Yahya Ibrahim, Martin Wani, and Maya Wani shall each
			 be eligible for—</text><paragraph id="id5639011FB9CE4EB784E0EB484F021C5E"><enum>(1)</enum><text>issuance of an immigrant visa;</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id9FEA29DE2EFB413E9782AAAF77651218"><enum>(2)</enum><text>adjustment of status to that of an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence upon filing an
			 application for issuance of an immigrant visa under section 204 of that
			 Act
			 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1154">8 U.S.C. 1154</external-xref>); or</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id11EECC39F1E84C9987F83B3B0984127E"><enum>(3)</enum><text>adjustment of status to lawful permanent resident.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id752E3C32BB044DEC8A5CADDBAF5CF935"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Adjustment of status</header><text>If Meriam Yahya Ibrahim, Martin Wani, or Maya Wani enters the United States before the filing
			 deadline specified in subsection (c), he or she shall be considered to
			 have entered and remained lawfully and shall, if otherwise eligible, be
			 eligible for adjustment of status under section 245 of the Immigration and
			 Nationality Act (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/8/1255">8 U.S.C. 1255</external-xref>) as of the date of the enactment of this
			 Act.</text></subsection><subsection id="idE43BEE59E68B45E988B0418C56F0900F"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Deadline for application and payment of fees</header><text>Subsections (a) and (b) shall apply only if, within 2 years after the date of the enactment of this
			 Act, the applicant files with appropriate fees—</text><paragraph id="id6F0FA712B44C49F799A2C25404B5EF05"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the application for issuance of an immigrant visa; or</text></paragraph><paragraph id="idD5BB6629D9944317BF4271FAA335BFC5"><enum>(2)</enum><text>the application for adjustment of status.</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="idE46672A2929A41E089F749B047F5C839"><enum>(d)</enum><header>Reduction of immigrant visa number</header><text>Upon the granting of an immigrant visa or permanent residence to Meriam Yahya Ibrahim, Martin Wani,
			 and Maya Wani, the Secretary of State shall instruct the proper officer to
			 reduce by 3, during the current or next following fiscal year—</text><paragraph id="id851B63B1E23C4BA2A2501B9FBFB80B4F"><enum>(1)</enum><text>the total number of immigrant visas that are made available to natives of the country of birth of
			 the aliens under section 203(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8
			 U.S.C. 1153(a)); or</text></paragraph><paragraph id="id8466456369834892A9803337A1885B76"><enum>(2)</enum><text>if applicable, the total number of immigrant visas that are made available to natives of the
			 country of birth of the aliens under section 202(e) of that Act (8 U.S.C.
			 1152(e)).</text></paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id17FC4E49B8F841FDAEB7EC544F1CF214"><enum>(e)</enum><header>Denial of preferential immigration treatment for certain relatives</header><text>The natural parents, brothers, and sisters of Meriam Yahya Ibrahim, Martin Wani, and Maya Wani
			 shall not, by virtue of such relationship, be accorded any right,
			 privilege, or status under the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C.
			 1101 et seq.).</text>
