		<official-title display="yes">To amend section 5542 of title 5, United
		  States Code, to provide that any hours worked by Federal firefighters under a
		  qualified trade-of-time arrangement shall be excluded for purposes of
		  determinations relating to overtime pay.</official-title>

		<section id="HC5F628C6CAE64B53B1BB1000CBA86E02" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Treatment of hours worked
			 under trade-of-time arrangements</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline"><external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/5/5542">Section 5542</external-xref> of
			 title 5, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the
			 following:</text>
			<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H5165E5E1C6F9485990B5AF4C1B23E15" style="USC">
				<subsection id="H6249ACF0E5F3403890C83592F2FF17B9"><enum>(g)</enum><paragraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="HF237103BBDF241E8B13945379D0025D4"><enum>(1)</enum><text>Notwithstanding any
				other provision of this section, any hours worked by a firefighter under a
				qualified trade-of-time arrangement shall be disregarded for purposes of any
				determination relating to eligibility for or the amount of any overtime pay
				under this section.</text>
					</paragraph><paragraph id="H3A4D2298E66D403199ED71CD9576732F" indent="up1"><enum>(2)</enum><text>For purposes of this
				subsection—</text>
						<subparagraph id="H88C5FFF7FA564607B1871167F800DCCC"><enum>(A)</enum><text>the term <term>qualified trade-of-time
				arrangement</term> means an arrangement under which 2 firefighters who are
				employed by the same agency agree, solely at the option of the firefighters and
				with the approval of the agency employing the firefighters, to substitute for
				one another during scheduled work hours in performance of work in the same
				capacity; and</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H556BC578C91A424681103D9500FBA395"><enum>(B)</enum><text>the term <term>firefighter</term>
				means—</text>
							<clause id="id75519E9A1F9048578F3E2CA09AC86092"><enum>(i)</enum><text>a firefighter, as defined in
				section 8331(21); and</text>
							</clause><clause id="id3614101F34DE4698A7EA44DB03B80544"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>a firefighter, as defined in
				section
				8401(14).</text>
