		<official-title>To include nonprofit and volunteer ground and air
		  ambulance crew members and first responders for certain benefits.
		  </official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short
			 title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as
			 the <quote><short-title>Dale Long Emergency Medical
			 Service Providers Protection Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="ID7095f2415368436a95f7edb1576287df"><enum>2.</enum><header>Eligibility</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section 1204 of title I of the Omnibus Crime
			 Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968 (42 U.S.C. 3796b) is amended—</text>
			<paragraph id="IDedcb3bf2984546c2b801f20d3af181a3"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph (7),
			 by striking <quote>public employee member of a rescue squad or ambulance
			 crew;</quote> and inserting “employee or volunteer member of a rescue squad or
			 ambulance crew (including a ground or air ambulance service) that—</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id5ACC707E6A534F66B830C13ADF5B50DA" style="OLC">
					<subparagraph id="ID96aa94a961554391baedca3e3defbf48"><enum>(A)</enum><text>is a public
				agency; or</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="ID465b9d4ab15c49b9ba16196b92ed1135"><enum>(B)</enum><text>is (or is a part
				of) a nonprofit entity serving the public that—</text>
						<clause id="IDbfa3f566f5674116850c19a4cf865e0d"><enum>(i)</enum><text>is officially
				authorized or licensed to engage in rescue activity or to provide emergency
				medical services; and</text>
						</clause><clause id="ID08c09a09252848e68dd08175a7750dbf"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>is officially
				designated as a pre-hospital emergency medical response
				agency;</text>
						</clause></subparagraph><after-quoted-block>;
				and</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</paragraph><paragraph id="ID1d6fa38276364a9396aae7cfede09b0c"><enum>(2)</enum><text>in paragraph
			 (9)—</text>
				<subparagraph id="IDfa328d01f5e647d2aeadffc43f5e4d35"><enum>(A)</enum><text>in subparagraph
			 (A), by striking <quote>as a chaplain</quote> and all that follows through the
			 semicolon, and inserting <quote>or as a chaplain;</quote>;</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="IDf4a83ea6d28f4403ba46940bb9678d8f"><enum>(B)</enum><text>in subparagraph
			 (B)(ii), by striking <quote>or</quote> after the semicolon;</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="ID29263591052243a885584e1ad670cec1"><enum>(C)</enum><text>in subparagraph
			 (C)(ii), by striking the period and inserting <quote>; or</quote>; and</text>
				</subparagraph><subparagraph id="ID1ed1a0e497ef464197656f40c178acd7"><enum>(D)</enum><text>by adding at the
			 end the following:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id74E6270235724DD4BD1DBCEBD7B34F43" style="OLC">
						<subparagraph id="ID95054be069b44121ba6988d61972ba66"><enum>(D)</enum><text>a member of a
				rescue squad or ambulance crew who, as authorized or licensed by law and by the
				applicable agency or entity (and as designated by such agency or entity), is
				engaging in rescue activity or in the provision of emergency medical
				services.</text>
						</subparagraph><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</subparagraph></paragraph></section><section id="ID5ee6ca5e07e843f9a9ee4fc625c5882d"><enum>3.</enum><header>Offset</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Of the unobligated balances available under
			 the Department of Justice Assets Forfeiture Fund, $12,000,000 are permanently
			 cancelled.</text>
		</section><section id="ID0d43dbd1ce104469a454275a37cba37a"><enum>4.</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The amendments made by
			 section 2 shall apply only to injuries sustained on or after June 1,
			 2009.</text>
