		<legis-type>A BILL</legis-type>
		<official-title>To prohibit the establishment of new units of the
		  National Forest System, National Park System, National Wildlife Refuge System,
		  National Wild and Scenic Rivers System, National Trails System, National
		  Wilderness Preservation System, or any other system established by Federal law,
		  or any national conservation or national recreation area without approval of
		  the applicable State legislature.</official-title>

		<section id="S1" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short
			 title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as
			 the <quote><short-title>Federal Land Designation
			 Requirements Act of 2011</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="idC44DC11D127245E994380137B817BE17"><enum>2.</enum><header>State approval
			 required for federal land designations</header>
			<subsection id="idC0B364F5C10643FC91C4E8280D64205E"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Definition of
			 covered unit</header><text>In this section, the term <quote>covered
			 unit</quote> means—</text>
				<paragraph id="IDc1c284e5951540a2bfeb1d33bd20c96e"><enum>(1)</enum><text>a unit of the
			 National Forest System, National Park System, National Wildlife Refuge System,
			 National Wild and Scenic Rivers System, National Trails System, National
			 Wilderness Preservation System, or any other system established by Federal
			 law;</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="idF414F25730A24800AA5948994AD65486"><enum>(2)</enum><text>a national
			 monument; or</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="idABD8B72612534E2D894E7E543C853F98"><enum>(3)</enum><text>any national
			 conservation or national recreation area.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="idB746730E89804B4FB9A48B798DC8CBA4"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Prohibition</header><text>A
			 covered unit shall not be established unless the legislature of the State in
			 which the proposed covered unit is located has approved the establishment of
			 the covered unit.</text>
