		<official-title>To amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to ensure
		  the continued access of Medicare beneficiaries to diagnostic imaging
		  services.</official-title>

		<section id="H9DCA9360993647D7A6BA726CCFEC6080" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Diagnostic Imaging Services Access
			 Protection Act of 2012</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H2241D9F608164E29B9F0D3CADEA550C4"><enum>2.</enum><header>Medicare payment
			 for imaging services</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">Section
			 1848(b)(4) of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1395w–4(b)(4)) is amended by
			 adding at the end the following new subparagraph:</text>
			<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="idEE26456249574BBE8D6CF228041A3F53" style="OLC">
				<subparagraph id="H28CBBF1CFABB42B1B559AF2520E610C2"><enum>(E)</enum><header>Limitation on
				application of multiple procedure payment reduction</header>
					<clause id="id4DB02E6332B84FC792822D3D5215EEEE"><enum>(i)</enum><header>In
				general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">The Secretary shall
				not apply a multiple procedure payment reduction policy to the professional
				component of imaging services—</text>
						<subclause id="HFF152A06A70D45CB8D89DBD66A880730"><enum>(I)</enum><text>furnished on or
				after the date that is 60 days after the date of the enactment of this
				subparagraph and before January 1, 2013; or</text>
						</subclause><subclause id="HF5A710D96E624454B6CF0AF06D4FAAAE"><enum>(II)</enum><text>furnished in 2013
				or a subsequent year unless the reduction is based on the analysis of an expert
				panel on diagnostic imaging services convened by the Institute of
				Medicine.</text>
						</subclause></clause><clause id="idE140BFEDB87640B684A386F1FEB19A97"><enum>(ii)</enum><header>Request</header><text>The
				Secretary shall request that the Institute of Medicine convene the expert panel
				described in clause (i)(II) and conduct an analysis of the appropriateness of
				applying a multiple procedure payment reduction policy to the professional
				component of imaging services under this part.</text>
					</clause><clause id="id7C00A1A1A7244E4F8F9147D5D557466D"><enum>(iii)</enum><header>Requirement
				for analysis</header><text>In preparing the analysis described in clause (ii),
				the Institute of Medicine shall consult with national medical specialty
				societies with expertise in the field of diagnostic imaging
				services.</text>
