		<official-title>To amend title 18, United States Code, to prohibit
		  fraudulently representing a product to be maple syrup.</official-title>

		<section id="id8F5BB970698E46DC965703DE8CAB6993" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Maple Agriculture Protection and Law Enforcement Act of
			 2011</short-title></quote> or the <quote><short-title>MAPLE Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="id5459E89956254A059C834D1A998D2DD0" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Fraudulently
			 representing a product as maple syrup</header>
			<subsection id="id7F65DE2BA4EE4360996DDB91092ECFE1"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Chapter 47 of title
			 18, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="id5BDC97224E29421486460840E3E64F92" style="USC">
					<section id="idD5A2655D33DB452290A500BC055D3790"><enum>1041.</enum><header>Fraudulently
				representing a product as maple syrup</header>
						<subsection id="id2F42106EB0084D7DA28D7BDBCDF06EAB"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Definition</header><text>In
				this section, the term <term>maple syrup</term> means a liquid food—</text>
							<paragraph id="IDaa21f8573ba344ca950e7b72fd984c87"><enum>(1)</enum><text>derived
				by—</text>
								<subparagraph id="id0237F88FB59D4096AA690078E5CDA6CB"><enum>(A)</enum><text>concentration and
				heat treatment of the sap of a species of tree in the genus Acer (commonly
				known as <term>maple trees</term>); or</text>
								</subparagraph><subparagraph id="id8C82F5D464BB4C1D95FE0473CBD58386"><enum>(B)</enum><text>solution in water
				of maple sugar (commonly know as <term>maple concrete</term>) made from the sap
				of a species of tree in the genus Acer;</text>
								</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="id060D3AAD9F97450BB8D20FC82305F88C"><enum>(2)</enum><text>that is not less
				than 66 percent by weight of soluble solids derived solely from the sap of a
				species of tree in the genus Acer; and</text>
							</paragraph><paragraph id="idCFC9A98494B7432BBA1CFD28365BD020"><enum>(3)</enum><text>the concentration
				of which may be adjusted by adding water.</text>
							</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="idADD70A4ACDE04AEBA778D6B7854F1CD2"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Offense</header>
							<paragraph id="id71F422A7BC164AA0B4472CC6CF98BE53"><enum>(1)</enum><header>In
				general</header><text>Except as provided in paragraph (2), it shall be unlawful
				for any person to knowingly and willfully introduce or deliver for introduction
				into interstate commerce a product that is labeled as maple syrup and that is
				not maple syrup.</text>
							</paragraph><paragraph id="id50FF1008457744A9B725C69A0A226A97"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Exception</header><text>Paragraph
				(1) shall not apply to a product labeled as maple syrup that is not maple syrup
				if the label also includes a clear identification of the true nature of the
				product.</text>
							</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="idE97605DB23D8472E96411EB4CE2969D5"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Penalty</header><text>Any
				person that violates subsection (b) shall be fined under this title, imprisoned
				for not more than 5 years, or
				both.</text>
						</subsection></section><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
			</subsection><subsection id="id9D85F1F0CD9A4CDEAE405F6A41F111A2"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Technical and
			 conforming amendment</header><text>The table of sections for chapter 47 of
			 title 18, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the
			 following:</text>
