		<official-title display="yes">To amend the Tariff Act of 1930 to include
		  ultralight vehicles under the definition of aircraft for purposes of the
		  aviation smuggling provisions under that Act, and for other
		  purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="HF60B5A23352849F9BBE26DACB3ADF235" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Ultralight Aircraft Smuggling
			 Prevention Act of 2011</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H5F4495EBECB94984AD566947BC762404" section-type="subsequent-section"><enum>2.</enum><header>Amendments to the
			 aviation smuggling provisions of the Tariff Act of 1930</header>
			<subsection id="HF82698347DF54BA08B876B90919445B6"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 590 of the
			 Tariff Act of 1930 (<external-xref legal-doc="usc" parsable-cite="usc/19/1590">19 U.S.C. 1590</external-xref>) is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H8EE70A08A2864C47A901AFBFC7078964"><enum>(1)</enum><text>by redesignating
			 subsection (g) as subsection (h); and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HCF9142B75D2149CCA7FE06A4CE5EFF3B"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by inserting after
			 subsection (f) the following:</text>
					<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H6A236E616C2646138D1796F3F2CEE778" style="OLC">
						<subsection id="HD761579E93A849E2AADD1FB530A50606"><enum>(g)</enum><header>Definition of
				aircraft</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">As used in this
				section, the term <term>aircraft</term> includes an ultralight vehicle, as
				defined by the Administrator of the Federal Aviation
				Administration.</text>
						</subsection><after-quoted-block>.</after-quoted-block></quoted-block>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="id8E665CE5D3994604A4E37CD5CF41C475"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Criminal
			 penalties</header><text>Subsection (d) of section 590 of the Tariff Act of 1930
			 (19 U.S.C. 1590(d)) is amended in the matter preceding paragraph (1), by
			 inserting <quote>, or attempts or conspires to commit,</quote> after
			 <quote>commits</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="HB2783B306B9D44E1B909EBC0795F83D4"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Effective
			 date</header><text>The amendments made by this section apply with respect to
			 violations of any provision of section 590 of the Tariff Act of 1930 on or
			 after the 30th day after the date of the enactment of this Act.</text>
			</subsection></section><section id="id5E1D2E13DE8E4F47A1D9A42245E1B1DF"><enum>3.</enum><header>Interagency
			 collaboration</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">The Assistant
			 Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering shall, in consultation with
			 the Under Secretary for Science and Technology of the Department of Homeland
			 Security, identify equipment and technology used by the Department of Defense
			 that could also be used by U.S. Customs and Border Protection to detect and
			 track the illicit use of ultralight aircraft near the international border
			 between the United States and Mexico.</text>
