		<section id="HC70B1F739917420387D98FC50ED4A78D" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Congress is Not a Career Act</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HC3188E6A192F472786150D1D248E1180"><enum>2.</enum><header>Granting Members
			 of Congress the option to decline certain benefits</header>
			<subsection id="HFCA11E466B7244CA9E693C775FC8EE08"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Federal
			 Employees Retirement System opt out</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Section 8401(20) of title 5, United States
			 Code, is amended by striking <quote>, and who</quote> and all that follows
			 through <quote>2004</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="H9C93BFF494904C80A4FB7ABF9227EB8C"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Thrift Savings
			 Plan agency contribution opt out</header><text>Section 8432(c) of such title is
			 amended by adding at the end the following:</text>
				<quoted-block display-inline="no-display-inline" id="H851AB3913DA146C5AD67062C177E3F21" style="USC">
					<paragraph id="HD81AEFA6ED784AF196DE4F1FC7237017"><enum>(4)</enum><subparagraph commented="no" display-inline="yes-display-inline" id="H190E583E0237497A9BC1FAF34C4F314E"><enum>(A)</enum><text>Notwithstanding any
				other provision of this subsection, contributions under paragraphs (1) through
				(3) may not be made in the case of any Member who makes an election under
				subparagraph (B).</text>
						</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HFA311971652849148B601B7E90CEC791" indent="up1"><enum>(B)</enum><text>Any Member may, by written notice to
				the official by whom such Member is paid, elect not to receive contributions
				under this subsection. An election under this subparagraph—</text>
							<clause id="H8FF694137B614A2989B8AB32FCD995B8"><enum>(i)</enum><text>shall be effective with respect to
				pay periods beginning on or after the date on which such election is made;
				and</text>
							</clause><clause id="H1C1F0A4504CE439BA455D6FB59A0C453"><enum>(ii)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">shall be irrevocable.</text>
