		<section id="HD22216730E6148759013F0B715743640" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Insurance Consumer Protection and
			 Solvency Act of 2012</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="HF0B27F39B06B4FE08A475B845D294C22"><enum>2.</enum><header>Liquidation
			 authority</header>
			<subsection id="H5DA69C13B71D4BCB9163DAB499B81413"><enum>(a)</enum><header>Definition of
			 financial company</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Clause
			 (iii) of section 201(a)(11)(B) of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and
			 Consumer Protection Act (12 U.S.C. 5381(a)(11)(B)(iii)) is amended by inserting
			 <quote>an insurance company or</quote> after <quote>other than</quote>.</text>
			</subsection><subsection id="HAF710FFB3E424EFEAB1F3A06E2C4F2BB"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Treatment of
			 insurance companies and subsidiaries</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Subsection (e) of section 203 of the
			 Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (12 U.S.C. 5383(e))
			 is amended—</text>
				<paragraph id="H773A3D08368042FABAAFBD30CC53816E"><enum>(1)</enum><text>in paragraph
			 (1)—</text>
					<subparagraph id="H65C2C6669AF148D0AE1D1B9055FF8735"><enum>(A)</enum><text>by striking
			 <quote>if an insurance company is a covered financial company or a subsidiary
			 or affiliate of a covered financial company,</quote>; and</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="H31A482FDD3214C048002CEE279809CC0"><enum>(B)</enum><text>by striking
			 <quote>such insurance</quote> and inserting <quote>an insurance</quote>;
			 and</text>
					</subparagraph></paragraph><paragraph id="H32D32574908D4C19B6379F750D473A58"><enum>(2)</enum><text>by striking
			 paragraph (3).</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="H0CFC4B05791840AD8B0066EB5B6CC6CE"><enum>(c)</enum><header>Assessments</header><text>Paragraph
			 (1) of section 210(o) of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer
			 Protection Act (12 U.S.C. 5390(o)(1)) is amended by inserting <quote>,
			 excluding an insurance company subject to assessment pursuant to applicable
			 State law to cover (or reimburse payments made to cover) the costs of
			 rehabilitation, liquidation, or other State insolvency proceeding with respect
			 to 1 or more insurance companies,</quote> after <quote>$50,000,000,000</quote>
			 each place such term appears.</text>
