		<official-title>To direct the Secretary of Transportation to issue
		  regulations with respect to ensuring families are able to sit together on
		  flights, and for other purposes.</official-title>

		<section id="HC664AA04805A4CC8BB24871095D53914" section-type="section-one"><enum>1.</enum><header>Short title</header><text display-inline="no-display-inline">This Act may be cited as the
			 <quote><short-title>Families Flying Together Act of
			 2012</short-title></quote>.</text>
		</section><section id="H2A202913AAF842D0BFD89F4204F50373"><enum>2.</enum><header>Seating families
			 together on flights</header>
			<subsection id="HC97CDBB289FD4969B600212B61C573EA"><enum>(a)</enum><header>In
			 general</header><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">Not later than 180
			 days after the date of enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Transportation
			 shall issue regulations directing each air carrier to—</text>
				<paragraph id="H05E3C1BA01AE411AAE5A4DC15202D096"><enum>(1)</enum><text>establish a policy
			 to ensure, to the extent practicable, that a family that purchases tickets for
			 a flight with that air carrier is seated together during that flight;
			 and</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HD79C5A686079457AA1158DE9E7D31E30"><enum>(2)</enum><text>make the policy
			 described in paragraph (1) available to the public on an appropriate Internet
			 Web site of the air carrier.</text>
				</paragraph></subsection><subsection id="HC2434FA4D7CB4F81A94F901EC5A73BEE"><enum>(b)</enum><header>Definitions</header><text>In
			 this section, the following definitions apply:</text>
				<paragraph id="HA8341F6C572B4332AB8904340D30C047"><enum>(1)</enum><header>Air
			 carrier</header><text>The term <term>air carrier</term> has the meaning given
			 that term in section 40102(a) of title 49, United States Code.</text>
				</paragraph><paragraph id="HA364456CAF014E5DAFD1A87864714D23"><enum>(2)</enum><header>Family</header><text>The
			 term <term>family</term> means a grouping of individuals that includes, at a
			 minimum—</text>
					<subparagraph id="H15197D4D102D41309DF1F6B3455978B4"><enum>(A)</enum><text>a child who is 12
			 years of age or younger; and</text>
					</subparagraph><subparagraph id="HFC8D105531C943E29997305D92F4C77D"><enum>(B)</enum><text display-inline="yes-display-inline">an individual who is—</text>
						<clause id="H1F0A0C78E1C0451485EE362542B3AE1A"><enum>(i)</enum><text>18
			 years of age or older; and</text>
						</clause><clause id="H2ED3AC071FD24429982A5A87BC62879C"><enum>(ii)</enum><text>responsible for
			 accompanying that child, including a parent or legal guardian of that
			 child.</text>
